As if director James Wan’s upcoming action thriller, Fast And Furious 7 wasn’t already blowing minds with one update after another, Variety is now reporting that actor Kurt Russell is now lining up for a role. No details are available about the character in question, except the Death Proof co-star is now a part of a line-up of a few new faces joining the hit franchise, continuing where the $750 million blockbuster smash, Fast And Furious 6, left off last year.
New cast members so far include UFC pro-fighter and newcoming actress, Ronda Rousey, along with fellow her The Expendables 3 co-star, actor Jason Statham. International action hero and star of the upcoming Thai martial arts spectacle, Tom Yum Goong 2, actor Tony Jaa, was added to a week ago today. These cast additions highlight the return of Riddick star Vin Diesel, Brick Mansions star, actor Paul Walker and Transformers: Dark Of The Moon co-star Tyrese Gibson reprising their roles from the series, along with Hercules: The Thracian Wars star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson possibly setting up his third appearance in the series.
Diesel will be producing along with Neal H. Moritz, with Chris Morgan providing the screenplay, set to return the franchise to its Los Angeles-set story, headlining the start of a possible third trilogy of Fast And Furious films. Filming is set to begin for September in the metro Atlanta area in the state of Georgia, and along the Pikes Peak Highway in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
