LOTUS: Phillip Ray Tommy’s Feature Debut Sets Up Shop At EFM This Month
Screenbound International Pictures is setting sail at EFM this month for Lotus, the new action thriller starring and directed by stunt professional Phillip Ray Tommy (Jurassic World: Rebirth, Gladiator II). The label also has a small set of stills along with a key first look which Screendaily’s Mona Tabbara featured on Wednesday.
Set in Birmingham and written, directed and starring Philip Ray Tommy, Lotus is a gritty, stunt-driven action thriller about redemption, brotherhood, and choices. The film follows John (Tommy), an ex-special forces operative who accidentally uncovers a dangerous conspiracy between a corrupt police officer and a local gang to flood the city with a lethal drug. With betrayal around every corner and in a life-or-death struggle, John has to rely on his instincts and resourcefulness to survive, taking matters into his own hands and turning the table on his enemies in a bid to dismantle the drug operation – proving that there’s hope even in the darkest corners of the city.
Tommy’s been on our radar since his earlier short directorial efforts like “Sacrilege” and putting his own twist on dark fantasy “Cain & Abel,” and “Vajra” back in 2019. He’s also appeared next to Daniel Stisen in The Siege and Stand Your Ground, and now makes his feature debut on both sides of the lens with the Berlin marketplace in his sights.
Tommy stars alongside Chi Lewis-Parry, and produces through his Phrato Cinematic Arts label next to Alan McQueen
“We’re so proud to bring the city of Birmingham to the big screen with Lotus. The character, beauty, grit and grime of Birmingham is reflected perfectly,” said Tommy.
“As a Midlands-based sales company we are excited to be showcasing the talent and creativity that Birmingham has to offer,” added Screenbound managing director Alan Byron.
