Sometimes we have regrets and sometimes we would prefer to blame others for our missteps. We should not do this, but it happens and it sounds like the premise of Tom Chilcoat’s directorial debut BIG NICKEL.

Charlie (Bracey), a charismatic Army recruiter, is tasked with signing the “big fish” for a promotion. The only thing that stands in his way is a disturbed ex-vet, Erik, that Charlie convinced to enlist years before. Erik is a dangerous man with a bone to pick, and he will not be satisfied until Charlie has paid a heavy price. As the pressure mounts, Charlie is ultimately forced to reexamine his dubious methods and face a thunderous reckoning of accountability.

Charlie is played by Luke Bracey who you may recognize from Point Break and Hacksaw Ridge. Also starring in this film is Brittany Snow, known for her roles in The Pacifier and John Tucker Must Die.

Chilcoat co-wrote the movie with David Birke who wrote Slender Man. One of the producers, Zak Kristofek, had this to say about BIG NICKEL:

When Tom shared this script, I knew it was something we had to help make. I’ve never seen a story like this, especially set in this world, and Tom is exactly the right person to tell it. This is the only beginning of a very bright future for Tom as a director. To say Jason and I are excited for an audience to join us on this thrill ride is a vast understatement.

Labeled as a “gritty thriller,” BIG NICKEL’s principal photography is set for Winter 2021. Stay tuned for more updates.
