MAN ON FIRE: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Is An Ex-Special Forces Op Whose Best Days Are Still Ahead In The First Teaser!
Netflix has thrown its hat in the ring for its own take on literary thriller, Man On Fire, featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead role. The first official teaser is out for the seven part series which streams on Netflix beginning April 30.
Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD.
Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.
Abdul-Mateen II looks amazing so far, invariably since the late Tony Scott’s 2004 iteration with Denzel Washington. This may also be a return to seeing the actor on the platform since “The Get Down” which I still testify ended WAY too soon, and you’re welcome to catch both seasons of that show if you haven’t yet.
For now, check out the teaser for Man On Fire below. Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, and Scoot McNairy also star with the first two episodes (out of seven) directed by Steven Caple Jr, from a script by showrunner Kyle Killen.
Native New Yorker. Been writing for a long time now, and I enjoy what I do. Be nice to me!
