Netflix’s WU ASSASSINS Adds Juju Chan and Mark Dacascos

Mile 22 stretches out this weekend to fans of martial arts action star Iko Uwais who now have something else to pine for with upcoming Netflix series, Wu Assassins. News out of Deadline on Wednesday has since confirmed the addition of fellow martial arts stars, actress JuJu Chan and actor Mark Dacascos for recurring roles with headiners Uwais and Altered Carbon actor Byron Mann.

Wu Assassins is poised as an action-packed crime drama set in San Francisco’s Chinatown with Uwais starring as Kai Jin, an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Mann will play key character Uncle Six with respect to Chan who will play Zan, Six’s elite, highly skilled assassin, martial artist sole confidant. Dacascos, who stars opposite Alexander Nevsky in Andrzej Bartkowiak this Maximum Impact this September in North America, will recur as an extremely fit and strong monk capable of fending off any evil force in his path.

Previous additions have announced actor Tzi Ma for the role of Mr. Young, a kind, local grocer who mentors Uwais’ role, along with actress Kathryn Winnick as undercover cop Christine “C.G.” Gavin, Into The Badlands series co-star Lewis Tan as Triad intel agent, custom garage owner and car boost ringleader Lu Xin Lee, and Tommy Flanagan of Sons Of Anarchy fame as international crime boss Alec McCullough.

Uwais is set to produce and serve as lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator for the ten-episode series hailing from Nomadic Pictures Entertainment. John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Falling Skies) will write and will executive produce next to Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev (Fargo; Hell on Wheels) and Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures (24).

Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero, Tai Chi Hero, Into The Badlands) will direct the first two episodes with Krantz among the growing list of directors attached.

Chan is still slated to appear with Max Zhang and Anderson Silva in Fruit Chan’s The Invincible Dragon. Dacascos’ makes way in May 2019 as looming assassin, Zero, opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Parabellum.
