2011 and 2012 brought comic book movie fans a chance for a big screen adaptation of the classic hammer-wielding superhero, Thor in a slew of superhero movies that preceded last year’s blockbuster hit, The Avengers starring Chris Hemsworth. Today we are given a brand new teaser for the upcoming sequel, Thor 2: The Dark World, directed by Alan Taylor. The film will see the return of Anthony Hopkins, Ray Stevenson, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, Kat Dennings, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Tadanobu Asano, Zachary Levi, Stellan Skarsgård and Tom Hiddleson reprising their roles from the previous films. Actor Christopher Eccleston joins the cast as the new villain, Malekith.
Set one year after The Avengers, Thor battles to save all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. However, a primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.
