Marko Zaror Mentioned For Superhero Role In ZAMBO DENDE
Marko Zaror as ‘Dolor’ in Undisputed 3: Redemption (2010)
Prospects for martial arts action fans alike can’t be greater than they are now, specifically for fans of Chilean action hero Marko Zaror (Mandrill). In recent years, he’s been earning even more attention with other titles, namely Isaac Florentine’s Undisputed 3: Redemption and a small, notable role in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills with Danny Trejo. And, in lieu of these and other projects and films still pending, we now have news of development for an upcoming film following a tweet by director Riccardo Gabrielli R which read the following:
@markozaror mañana nos vemos para otro gran proyecto! #ZamboDende
— Riccardo Gabrielli R (@riccafilm) October 18, 2014
“See you tomorrow for another great project.”
As so hashtagged, the name of the film would be called Zambo Dende, based on the work of comic-book creator Nicholas Rodriguez following an announcement late last year that Disney would be collaborating with a group of young Colombians for said film. The character is reportedly based on real life events with a story set in the fourteenth century about a child named Azuk who would rise from oppression to become a fighting force for the oppressed slaves of Latin America, ultimately foreseeing his royal destiny preset by the assassination of his mother. The film was previously titled The Games Maker and was set to release this year, but now looks like it will begin production sometime next year instead for a likely 2016 release, although further details are needed.
This wouldn’t be the first time Zaror has taken on a superhero likeness in some form or another, with vigilante roles in films like Kiltro and Mirage Man, the latter which was once on a path toward a higher quality 3D remake with former Jackie Chan fall guy-turned-director Andy Cheng before progress evidently floundered. Hopefully these developments will pan much better with more results following the Chilean rising superstar’s reunion with director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza for their latest 2014 Fall festival fave Redeemer. It’ll be a thing of beauty, I reckon.
After this, Zaror will be joining XYZ Films’ next, One Good Thing from Killers co-helmer Kimo Stamboel directing, and recurring The Raid franchise actor Yayan Ruhian co-starring.
Stay tuned for more info!

The Soskas' Say PAINKILLER JANE Will Be R-Rated, Sexy And Violent As F*ck!
For now, eschew any hopes of upcoming big-budget Hollywood studios putting out an R-rated comic book superhero action movie. Besides, as much as I am willing to be surprised, if the makers behind the upcoming Deadpool movie had any intention of leaving the first mark as of late, they would have been sure enough to do so publicly.
Alas, leave it to other superhero properties to take the mantle, like the longstanding comicbook line, Painkiller Jane, which centers on the story of undercover cop Jane Vasco, who wakes up one day with unique superpowers after being forcibly drugged into a coma following her blown cover during her infiltration into a New York City drug ring. The publication launched in 1996 by creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada prior to Syfy’s poorly-adaptated live-action TV movie in 2005 and series run in 2007.
Twin sister filmmakers Jen and Sylvia Soska are poised to direct the film following their work on films like Dead Hooker In A Trunk, last year’s American Mary, and the “T is for Torture Porn” segment in the upcoming sequel horror anthology, The ABC’s Of Death 2, a repetoire that would appeal to virtually anyone when mixing named favorites to direct an R-rated feature. As such, the sisters spoke to Crave Online on the matter, with huge emphasis placed on creative control and overall vision they share in adapting such a ballsy comic book setup for movie of this caliber.
“I’m not working for Marvel,” said Jen. “It has to be an R-rated character. When you come to a character like Jane, she drinks, she fights, she fucks, she talks like you and I talk, and that’s an important part of her character. That’s why we’d be really disappointed if that ended up being a PG or a PG-13 film because if you look at the character… Kids are reading this kind of content. I mean, when I was a kid I was reading ‘The Punisher.’ So Jane has to be true to the character and it’s got to be an R. We can’t tone it down or we’d tone Jane out of the entire script.”
“And this is the third shot, they kept watering her down, watering her down, watering her down,” added Sylvia. “Jen and I are not going to let that happen, and Jimmy Palmiotti – who is also one of the producers – he’s not going to let that happen. There are some scenes in this movie, there’s no way they’re not going to slap us with an R. Once you see it, it’s going to just be batshit crazy.”
As things currently stand, the sisters are also promising to deliver not just an R-rated comic book movie, but also what they also deem will be a “real” female-centric superhero film about a “bi-sexual, badass, dirty language, doesn’t give a f*ck cop”, comparing what they have in store to flops like Elektra and Catwoman. It’s a notably big move considering those films are close to a decade old now and Marvel and DC have since upped their game with their respective universes, not to mention Sony is working on its yet-to-be-titled female superhero film next to Warner Bros.’s pending standalone Wonder Woman movie. Then again, these are all PG-13 movies and are structured to gear toward family filmgoers, so it’s obvious that the audience will be largely different, but who knows?
At any rate, the Soskas’ are building an audience of their own with strong appeal toward the horror genre, so it’s worth noting that comic book movie fanatics will have something amazing to look forward to when the bullets start flying, the blood starts spilling and bodies start dropping. All they really need now is the support they so deserve!
The Soskas’ are currently overseeing the casting process, and any answer they are asked for about who will probably be no less vague than other answers prior to this or until otherwise. As for the script, well, move over Bullock and McCarthy! CraveOnline also quoted the two who say their script will be like “The Heat on crack,“ and will feature, “The dirtiest language and crudest comedy and hardcore violence, and yet at the same time, it somehow has heart.”
Well, dear Soska sibs, you now have mine, even while it is still beating. Just sayin’!
Jen and Sylvia are on their way with the impending release of the Lionsgate/WWE sequel thriller with wrestler/actor Kane in See No Evil 2 on October 21, 2014, followed by the production of Vendetta with wreslter/actor Paul Wight for next year. The ABC’s Of Death 2 are already out on VoD and will hit theaters at the end of the month from Magnet Releasing.

No Iron Man 4, But Robert Downey Jr. Will Join CAPTAIN AMERICA 3!
All comic book-related movie news remains in an on-going state of flux, which is pretty natural at this point. The studios want to keep certain things secret while maintaining anticipation among their fans which is fantastic, but also frustrating, in which case, if your name is Robert Downey Jr., then you’re playing this game perfectly.
The actor, whose latest courtroom drama, The Judge, opened last week, just confirmed the developement for third installment of the Sherlock Holmes film series for Warner Bros., which is just one of a few franchise favorites among moviegoers and fans of Downey Jr. alike. Of course, you also then have the enduring and ever-expanding Marvel movie universe, which the actor kicked off in superb fashion in 2008 with Iron Man. Sure, some people might disagree with the popularity of this genre and may feel that it is getting old to a certain degree, but it doesn’t make these films any less entertaining. Studios like Marvel are always finding a way to keep things fresh and growing, and considering all the vague rumors being reported for the past month or more, it’s good to finally learn some solid news for a change.
It was on Monday this week that Marvel Comics announced a forthcoming reboot addition of their 2006 comic book series Civil War, news that initially hinted at a “Secret Wars” crossover project which began in conjunction with Hasbro for their 1984 toy deal. Civil War, which begins its comic book run next summer, will focus on the internal conflict among superheroes in lieu of the Superhero Registration Act, which would oblige anyone with superpowers and abilities to install themselves into a registry and apply their services to a police force. The Act causes a clash between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, and their Avenger alteregos Iron Man and Captain America, respectively – a riff which would begin drawing the battle lines between multiple heroes with different ideologies on right and wrong. This particular storytelling formula was a definitive tool in the overall delivery and commercial success of this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are currently poised to direct Captain America 3 next Spring for its May 6, 2016 release with actor Chris Evans returning once more as the jingoistic-costumed superhuman patriot for the fourth time within the Marvel movieverse.
This time, after weeks and weeks of speculation and doubt regarding whether or not Downey Jr. would put the Iron suit back on for “Iron Man 4”, those rumors finally quelled with official reports from Variety that the actor would reunite with Evans for Captain America 3 for at least a month on set in Atlanta, Georgia next year, and not for a small role either. Badass Digest brought even details on Monday stating that Captain America 3 would be an ensemble film with the title hero having his own team, an element in the story that would come following the events of the May 1, 2016 release of Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron. That said, the word is Downey Jr. is getting a $40 million dollar pay day from Captain America 3, so fans can surely expect Stark to play a more intergral role in the events following Age Of Ultron as the Marvel movieverse essentially aims for a new phase. Moreover, it is also being speculated that recent talks to help merge Spider-man into Disney’s booming Marvel movie franchise could lead to the popular wall-crawler’s appearance in future films following Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man films; As for whether or not Andrew Garfield will be back is yet to be determined though while The Sinister Six, Venom and a yet-to-be-titled superheroine movie remain in the works.
The Russos are also said to be the favorites to direct a third and possible fourth Avengers film while things remain in flux regarding Captain America 3, aside from the respective picture deals between Evans and TWS co-star, actor Sebastian Stan; Anthony Mackie could possibly return as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon, in addition to sharpshooting archer and fellow Avenger Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, who is nonetheless willing to play the character in his own franchise line if Marvel can foresee it following the comic’s relaunch next summer as well.
Other than that, there is still plenty of time and more rumors will soon follow before we hear further solid news on the matter. Different things are happening between different studios with repsect to their Marvel movieverses, which (could) finally hint at the appearance of the Fantastic Four in Disney’s future Marvel movies, as recently stated by Deadline, ahead of 20th Century Fox’s August 7, 2015 reboot and its July 14, 2017 sequel (and yes, do take that with a grain of salt). At least for now though, fans can look forward to watching more of Tony Stark’s swag annoy Steve Rogers from time to time, well…at least before the wear-and-tear on their supersuits begins.
Keep your eyes peeled!

Sony To Head Female Superhero Movie Development For 'Spider-Man' Franchise
Sony Pictures’s current success of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise has played a major role in branching into its own universe with the forthcoming production of The Sinister Six, with at least two more movies featuring the classic wall-crawling character. That said, with the prominence of female characters and overall impact of women in comic book and movie lore, it appears Sony Pictures has heard the call to take its creativity in another direction.
Sony has officially undergone efforts to revamp the Spider-Man film franchise to work on a female superheroine to the big screen, according to a new report from Deadline. The report says Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, the producers behind director Drew Goddard’s spin-off project, The Sinister Six, are producing the female-centered film which is being written by Lisa Joy Nolan. Details are yet to determine which character the new film will focus on, although the listed contenders are Spider-Woman, Black Cat, Sable, Stunner and Firestar, among others. Ironically, a report arrived earlier this year that Marvel was supposedly developing a Spider-Woman film franchise with actress Vanessa Hudgens attached. This could be the very same project as these development periods span pretty lengthily, but nothing has since been confirmed.
Sony has dated the film for a 2017 release, placing the film after its November 11, 2016 date for the currently-developing Sinister Six film. In the meantine, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has since been moved back to a to-be-announced 2018 date, with the fourth still awaiting further updates.
Goddard is also producing the new 2015 Daredevil series for Netflix with Steven DeKnight as the series’ showrunner.
Stay tuned for more updates.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Unshells Four New Character Posters And Trailer
Aside from anything revelant to the etymology of the character from the original comics by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, director Jonathan Liebesman‘s forthcoming iteration of the classic villain in his new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will center on actor William Fichtner‘s portrayal of Eric Sachs, a doctor who apparently worked with reporter April O’Neil’s father to, as he puts it, “create heroes”. Evidently at some point, every hero needs a villain, and somehow Sachs becomes the monstrous incarnation we now see in the new photo above, and in addition to a brand new trailer and character posters as of this week.

SDCC '14: BATMAN V SUPERMAN Tops The New List Of New WB/DC Films To Be Announced
Here are the goods:

The New Trailer For SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Is Here!
The promotional campaign for the latest noir action crime follow-up from co-directors Robert Rodriguez and graphic novelist Frank Miller, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, had a small share of mild controversy in the past few weeks due to the MPAA’s banned poster with actress Eva Green’s right boob; A non-issue if you ask me. I dig the poster, and I’m hard-pressed to believe I’m alone in its approval.
At any rate, the film is poised to release nationwide on August 22. I still need to see the first film so I can have a viable opinion. And this is my niche too, so… yeah.
*Sigh* …Life gets in the way of living. (borrowing that one from Darren actually, lol.)
Check out the trailer below and feel free to take a gander at the latest Reddit AMA Miller himself hosted on Wednesday!
SYNOPSIS:
Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the big screen in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants.
