NINJA WARS: BLACKFOX VS SHOGUN’S NINJA Official Teaser And Poster Signal Next Chapter Of Koichi Sakamoto’s Ninja Universe!
The last seven years have gradually seen successes in director Koichi Sakamoto’s two recent martial arts ninja thrillers, Blackfox: Age Of The Ninja, and Shogun’s Ninja. In 2026, both properties now pave the way for more excitement in the director’s latest Ninjaverse adventure, Ninja Wars: Blackfox VS Shogun’s Ninja.
Actors Chihiro Yamamoto and Kanon Miyahara are back to reprise their roles opposite action stalwarts such as Kane Kozugi, Miki Mizuno and Yasuaki Kurata among others. The new ninja actioner is set to make its international launch exclusively for membership subscribers on the 24/7 SAMURAI – SHINOBI YouTube channel (excluding Japan and China) at 11:00am JST on March 30. Japan release plans remain pending.
Next to FAST streaming availability, Sakamoto’s films add to the YouTube platform’s growing library of niche Japanese action content after launching several years ago. Such films and classic dramas also include Baian The Assassin M.D., Red Blade, A Samurai’s Sorrow, Samurai Detective Onihei, The Yoshimune Chronicle, Samurai Courier, and Beast Slayer, to name just a handful of the covered IPs listed for members.
Ninja Wars: Blackfox VS. Shogun’s Ninja first brought signs of life for fans at Tokyo Comic Con back in December with the cast and crew in attendance. Rounding out the cast are Nashiko Momotsuki, Tatsuomi Hamada, and Wataru Kuriyama, with a script by Junichiro Ashiki.

Tokyo, Japan — Nihon Eiga Broadcasting Corp. has unveiled the first visual and teaser trailer for NINJA WARS 〜BLACKFOX VS SHOGUN’S NINJA〜, a new action period film from internationally renowned director Koichi Sakamoto (Power Rangers, Ultraman, Kamen Rider).
The film stars Chihiro Yamamoto (Alice in Borderland Season 2), Kanon Miyahara, Nashiko Momotsuki, Kane Kosugi, Miki Mizuno, and legendary martial arts actor Yasuaki Kurata, bringing together some of Japan’s leading action performers.
The project unites the worlds of two hit productions — BLACKFOX: Age of the Ninja and SHOGUN’S NINJA — in a crossover story that launches what the creators are calling “Sakamoto’s Ninja Universe.” Ahead of its global rollout in 2026, the film will premiere internationally on March 30 via membership streaming on the YouTube channel “24/7 SAMURAI – SHINOBI” (available outside Japan and China).
The two franchises have already built a strong international fanbase. BLACKFOX: Age of the Ninja has surpassed 20 million views online, while SHOGUN’S NINJA quickly reached over one million views following its debut, signaling growing global demand for high-energy Japanese action period content.
Directed and choreographed by Sakamoto, known for his fast-paced action style and tokusatsu blockbusters, the film promises large-scale ninja battles and martial arts spectacle, culminating in a major on-screen showdown between Kane Kosugi and martial arts icon Yasuaki Kurata.
The film’s theme song, “My Own Way – version 2026 –,” will be performed by Japanese electronic music unit fripSide, continuing their collaboration with Sakamoto after BLACKFOX: Age of the Ninja.Story
Rikka Isurugi (Chihiro Yamamoto), head of the Fox Clan, is investigating the “White Lotus,” a mysterious cult suspected of plotting a rebellion against the Shogunate. During her mission, she encounters Okyo (Kanon Miyahara), a Fuma Ninja dispatched by the Shogun. Their paths converge as they face a formidable common enemy: the Iga Ninja clan, led by Hattori Hanzo (Kane Kosugi), who harbors a deep vengeance
against the Tokugawa family. A three-way conflict between the Fox Clan, Fuma Ninja, and Iga Ninja is about to begin.
