PAPER MADE: First Look At Quartay DeNaya, Dana Rae Berenato, Mara Sadè And More In New Stills For The New Fraternal HBCU Martial Arts Flick
Filmmaker Ryan Watson took to Instagram to commemorate the last day of International Womens’ Month with a set of stills and behind-the-scenes images of his new film, Paper Made. Additionally, the new images, which Watson shared on Tuesday evening, reveal first looks at several of the actresses starring in the film, including actress and martial artist Quartay DeNaya, wrestler Mara Sadè, and actress and former wrestler Dana Rae Beranato, as well as Leslie Segar, Kayla Becker, and Nakia Burrise.
“On this last day of International Women’s Month, we want to celebrate the women of Paper Made,” wrote Watson on Instagram. “These women delivered the goods both on camera and behind the scenes. We literally would not have been able to do it without their tireless efforts. Couldn’t find pictures of all of them but they know who they are.” Watson also tagged casting director Karlie Loland-Ringer, make-up artist April Renee, legal advisor Jalene Mack, set medic Queen Latesha, set decorators Jalyssa Troupe and Marissa Astiff, behind-the-scenes photographer Emmy Mccarthy, and production assistant Michelle Etenorio.
Production on Paper Made wrapped last week per announcements by Watson on his social platforms. Watson is directing from a script he co-wrote with screenwriter Jerron Horton which expands on a pair of shortfilm concepts Watson released in 2022 and 2024 titles “Paper Line,” which explore the dark, martial arts-infused underbelly of an HBCU fraternity. The cast is led by Myles Truitt, Michael Jai White, Taimak and Walter E. Jones, with Marrese Crump, Devante Thomas, Sam Lee Herring, Jair Muhammad, De’Andre Ashbury, Cequence Henry and Michael Quick McGee also starring.
