PAPER MADE: Ryan Watson’s HBCU Martial Arts Thriller Wraps Principal Photography In Tampa
On Monday evening, filmmaker Ryan Watson was among the first of several from his latest production, Paper Made, to take to social media thanking his cast and crew for their involvement. Principal photography has since wrapped on the project since rolling cameras on March 2 for the Tampa-set production on which Watson makes his feature directing debut.
Other posts came from co-stars, acting and action talents Quartay DeNaya and Cequence Henry, and Marrese Crump this week. The trio are among a cast led by Myles Truitt, Michael Jai White, Taimak, and Walter E. Jones, along with Marcus Crump, Daria Rae Berenato, Jamara Garrett (a.k.a. Mara Sadè), Devante Thomas, Sam Lee Herring, Jair Muhammad, De’Andre Ashbury, and Michael Quick McGee.
Paper Made was written by Watson and screenwriter Jerron Horton, and builds off from a concept born from a pair of Watson’s earlier “Paper Line” shortfilms. Set at a fictional HBCU, Paper Made follows Tavon Watkins (Truitt), who after a severe hazing incident threatens his academic standing, must pledge a secret fraternity of black martial artists that forces him to confront his ego, legacy, and the true meaning of brotherhood.
Post-production will follow as the weeks and months remain, so keep watch for future updates. In the meantime, check out the posts below!
