Prima Lux: Aussie MA Thriller, NIGHT OF THE NINJA, Slates 2019 Production Start

On Wednesday this week, director John Balazs announced his prospective 2019 production slate – the second of which now lists as Night Of The Ninja. There’s no logline as the script is in early stages, although according to Balazs, the gist of the story will center on an everyman whose blood oath obligates him to carry out clandestine mission per his secret life as a ninja.

The film marks Balazs’ second foray into the ninja subgenre of since co-directing Rob Baard’s 2014 indie, The Ninja Immovable Heart. Having grown far greener pastures on the solo-directing front since then with two winning shortfilms, Dancer and his latest celebrated multi-festival hit, Night Shift, Balazs now looks to polish his creds on the ninja scene with a plush, polished story packaged with quality drama and action talent to boot.

Production in mid-2019 will cast an Asian-Australian lead following the film’s current development as Balazs now prioritizes his new dramatic thriller, Rage. Balazs is penning that one with Michael J. Kospiah, and is producing with wife and Prima Lux partner Marlane Ghmed, and with cameras expected to roll in early 2019.

The news also comes on the hinges of Balazs’ officially releasing his hit short action thriller, Night Shift, which drew has drawn my attention in coverage for nearly a year. Award-winning actress Adele Elasmar leads the narrative as a stoic police officer who, upon her return to duty following a tragic incident, finds herself cornered in a crimeboss’ building with nowhere to hide and only one way out. Also starring are Stephen Degenaro and Dancer star, award-winning actress Liz Conrado.
