Revenge Thriller FAST VENGEANCE Heats Up On Tubi Ahead Of DVD And Blu-Ray Releases This August

Director Pearry Reginald Teo (The Gene Generation, The Assent) quietly emerged on ad-supported free streaming app, Tubi, with his latest action thriller, Fast Vengeance. Previously titled Burnout, Fast Vengeance stars D.Y. Sao, an actor and martial artist who’s been hustling for longer than I’ve been writing with small roles in films like Cradle 2 The Grave, and larger ones in indies like R.L. Scott’s martial arts action sequel, Champion Road: Arena.

He’s also been privy to crowdfunding efforts that would’ve eventually seen him more prolifically even sooner than now, and unfortunately, those campaigns fell short of their goals. Nonetheless, with the days of Sao’s Usurp Productions long behind him, it’s high time I finally started seeing more of Sao on screen, especially considering his action performance caliber and athleticism could easily contend with that of other stars today.

Sao can even be seen as of late among the crop of wunderkinds in Martial Club’s ubiquitous viral hit Ip Man fan film from a year ago, and will also be seen among the stunt credits in upcoming Marvel adaptation, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings. Not for nothing either, but Sao is also par for the course with a few more lead roles, including Jose Cantu’s indie actioner, True American Violence, and another actioner by Teo provided he and his company can manage to find a location; In a social media post, Teo’s next filming adventure was supposed to be Thailand with Sao in a starring vehicle, and sadly those plans were curtailed this week when the country shut down due to COVID-19 case increases.

At any rate, Fast Vengeance is available on Tubi. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re a martial arts fan like anyone else who’s probably hard up for the next grand entrance by a prospective star. The film releases on DVD and Blu-Ray from Shout! Factory on August 14. In the meantime, as a Tubi exclusive, Teo’s entry here is more than affordable to watch, and in continuation with late rapper DMX’s acting career in direct-to-disc films of late, otherwise looks like a fine send-off.

Upon hearing of his brother’s death, a man named Shen returns to his old stomping grounds to find the men responsible and take justice into his own hands. He learns that a biker named Cobra and his ferocious gang, The Midnight Squad, were the ones responsible … but to get anywhere close to them, he must enter the dark, turbulent realm of underground motorcycle racing.

Enlisting the aid of a drag racing champion-turned-mechanic, Shen must compete in the high-stakes races where he will have one chance to confront Cobra. But when Shen’s plan is revealed, he must battle both on the streets and in the ring to obtain his final revenge. Featuring hip-hop legend DMX (Belly, Romeo Must Die), Fast Vengeance is a high-octane action thriller with style — and rubber — to burn.
