Robert Rodriguez To Launch New TV Network With FROM DUSK TIL DAWN Series

Deadline is reporting that a new announcement has been made for a new partnership between Univision Networks and FactoryMade for an upcoming Comcast cable network headed by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez called The El Rey Network. At an event in New York City on Tuesday, Rodriguez told the public “The El Ray Network is going to be the home of kick-ass entertainment,”

To emphasize further, the network has brought on Star Trek writer/producer duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman to put together their own project, in addition to the television adaptation of Rodriguez’ 1996 cult Mexiploitation vampire action horror classic, From Dusk Til Dawn. Orci and Kurtzman’s presence in television signifies a series of new announcements that have been made in recent months for new TV shows, including Orci and Kurtzman’s Sleepy Hollow, and J.J. Abrams‘ series, Almost Human, with lead actor Karl Urban.
The El Rey Network is set to launch in December, with Scott Sassa serving as vice-chairman. In the meantime, Rodriguez’ latest sequel actioner, Machete Kills, is set to premiere on September 8, 2013, starring Danny Trejo, followed by the production of Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For, based on the popular graphic novel by film co-writer/director Frank Miller. Urban and Sleepy Hollow co-star John Cho are set to appear in the upcoming release of Abrams’ latest, Star Trek: Into Darkness this Wednesday and Thursday on IMAX, 3D and regular 2D screens before the director steps into Star Wars territory until 2015.
