Last summer was a hell of a summer to be Ronda Rousey. She was reigning UFC bantamweight champion and buzzing around the media with quite an impression with a label that harkens back to something she stated once learning from her mother never to be.
That label has certainly stricken a chord for her fans even as she looks to raze herself from defeat after losing her UFC title to Holly Holm back in November. Moreover, it’s a reflection of upward thinking that’s been adapted by fans far and wide who continue to pay attention to Rousey’s career, both in the professional fight world as well as the world of film where she’s earned some notable major film credits as a result, including The Expendables 3 and Furious Seven.
Nowadays you’ll find her preparing for her rematch with Holm much later this year, but you can also catch her preparing for several roles on film. As such, word from the trades are now lending a nod to Universal Pictures for their latest acquisition of the new comedy, Do Nothing Bitches.
Paula Pell, who previously wrote last year’s holiday success, Sisters, starring actress and comedian Tina Fey, wrote and pitched the script which sees wealthy and pampered wives getting re-educated at a special camp where Rousey reigns as the no-nonsense instructor opposite Fey who will also star. Pell will produce with Fey via the actress’s Little Stranger Productions banner whose Eric Gurian will executive produce while EVP Production’s own Erik Baiers will oversee for Universal Pictures.
Fey’s next appearance will be in the upcoming war journalism comedy, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, which opens this March. In the meantime, Rousey’s Road House prepares for an April shoot with Nick Cassavetes at the helm, in addition to Peter Berg’s Mile 22 for STX Entertaiment and Paramount’s My Fight, Your Fight throughout the year.
