Ryan Gosling Is A Very Dangerous Boy In The Final Trailer For ONLY GOD FORGIVES

The final trailer is out for Only God Forgives, and if you have been living under a rock and are just now learning of this movie, then it’s not too late. The film comes out in North America on July 19 from writer and director Nicholas Winding Refn, and stars Ryan Gosling as a gang enforcer living in Thailand whose crimelord mother summons him to investigate his brother’s death, which eventually leads to a showdown between him, and a rogue cop with a notorious, and feared reputation.

The reviews are in since the film made the festival circuit in the past few months, with critics delivering mixed reactions largely on the film’s use of violence, otherwise calling it a “masterpiece”.
“Art is an act of violence. Art is about penetration…” said Refn to The Toronto Star back in May. “I approach things very much like a pornographer. It’s about what arouses me. And certain things turn me on more than other stuff, and I can’t suppress that… I have surely a fetish for violent emotion and violent images and I can’t explain where it comes from, but I believe through art, it is way to exorcise certain things in you.”

The film is currently out in Thailand, with a U.K. release pending this August. The film also stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, Ratha Yayaying Phongam, Tom Burke and Kowit Wattanankul.
SYNOPSIS:

Ten years ago in Bangkok Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.

When Julian’s brother kills a prostitute, the police reaches out to retired cop Chang, known as the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughters murderer, then restores order by chopping off the man’s right hand.

Julian’s mother Jenna, the head of a powerful criminal organization, arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She orders Julian to find his killers and raise hell.

Increasingly obsessed with the Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match, hoping that by defeating him he might find spiritual release but Chang triumphs. A furious Jenna plots revenge and the stage is set for a bloody journey through betrayal and vengeance towards a final confrontation and the possibility of redemption.
