SASKIA: THE HONG KONG ACTION YEARS Trailer Teases A Look At ‘The Dutch Cynthia Rothrock’
Saskia van Rijswijk, the first queen of kickboxing, shares her story from the golden era of Hong Kong action cinema.
Martial artist and former actress Saskia van Rijswijk has a limited filmography for her time in the entertainment industry. Nonetheless, she’s billed as the only Dutch talent to make a significant impact during Hong Kong’s action’s peak years.
Two years in the making, that era is now getting a spotlight in the new short documentary, Saskia: The Hong Kong Action Years, from stuntman and filmmaker Pau Han Kho. We have an official teaser trailer to share as well, containing interview footage as well as permissioned clips of van Rijswik’s appearances in China White (1989) and Finalgate (1991), performing her own fights and stunts.
“As a woman, she managed to thrive in this demanding and tough industry despite the challenges of an era without the internet or social media,” per the announcement.
“It’s an honor to bring forward this untold story of Saskia van Rijswijk,” said Kho. “Her unique journey in the world of Hong Kong films deserves to be shared with a wider audience and can simultaneously inspire new generations.”
