Eight Years In The Making, Rising Tiger Films’ SILVERBACK Nears Completion

SILVERBACK

The new millenium was a turning point in the world of martial arts film fandom. Most folks who surf the web and follow the genre like crazy know this and likely know of the immersive talent that has emerged since then, partly including Leroy Nguyen who now brings word of progress for upcoming noir gangster drama, Silverback.

Low-rent, hard-fisted hoodlum Richie rolls with a tough crowd, yet it is his problems with the ladies that give him the most problems. When his most recent “relationship” goes sour, Richie decides to fix the broken things in his life the only way he knows how, risking the destruction of those very few who actually care about him.

Formerly titled Mad Love, Nguyen stars in the film which began shooting in 2010. The film’s assembly with new footage now being shot as of July picks up where production left off in an effort to create a second feature since launching his Leesburg-based Rising Tiger Films indie banner eight years prior.

Nguyen also writes and directs as he did with his most recent feature film debut, Black Scar Blues. That film earned its awarded Bests at festivals in Los Angeles, as well as New York City where he will showcase footage for Silverback upon his return to for Cinemax’s Urban Action Showcase.

Nguyen is also doling out the hard-hitting fight choreography – a mix of feral, instinctive, semi-stylish fightfare that martial arts fans and followers of the Rising Tiger Films channel have taken a liking to.

Silverback will likely arrive in 2019 after such a long duration. Zero budget filmmaking has its shortfalls for some directors. It’s a constantly fluctuating and often pain-staking, so its good to see this one rising to the occasion, and with strong appeal to the niche thusfar.
