STRATAGEM: ‘Dexter’ Franchise Star Michael C. Hall Joins Noomi Rapace Actioner For Q1 Production Start
SAG and Golden Globe-winner Michael C. Hall (Showtime’s “Dexter” franchise, HBO’s “Six Feet Under”) will join espionage action thriller, Stratagem when cameras roll early next year. Hall joins initial leads Noomi Rapace and Teo Yoo with a script by “Deutschland 89” duo, Lily Idov, and screenwriter and acclaimed novelist Michael Idov (The Humorist, Jetlag) who directs.
In Stratagem, Rapace plays CIA agent Stella Turner, who goes undercover at an exclusive cybersecurity summit in an ultra-luxury hotel to seduce and recruit enigmatic tech savant Daniel Sim (Yoo) whose genius may be the key to stopping a catastrophic leak of U.S. defense secrets. But the tables turn fast: Daniel is no ordinary target—he’s a master manipulator with a secret of his own. As the line between ally and adversary blurs, seduction turns into full-blown psychological warfare, and Stella finds herself walking into a trap of global proportions. No details have been made available yet on Hall’s role.
Highland Film Group is handling international rights to Stratagem, with CAA Media Finance handling US rights, continuing sales at the American Film Market.
Academy Award-nominated producer David Lancaster (Sony Pictures Classics’ Whiplash, Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal) and Matt Leipzig (I See You starring Helen Hunt) are producing. Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier are exec producing for Highland alongside Julie Kroll.
“MCH! Wow. My kids are obsessed! So cool to have him in this badass thriller!” said Lancaster.
Hall is repped by Gersh and Authentic; Rapace is repped by the Gersh Agency and Stella Härnström at Luz Eterna; Yoo is repped by CAA, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman; Michael and Lily Idov are represented by CAA and Modern Literary Arts.
