With more pics and other updates on the way, Movieweb is now reporting that London-based Content Media Corporation is said to have sold worldwide online rights to a major global online channel for a short first window. FUNIMATION has the rights to North America and the U.K., Australia, South America and Scandinavia, while POLYBAND will distribute to German-language areas in Europe, DARO for Central & Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, Middle East, IPA ASIA for Thailand, LUSOMUNDO for Portugal and SONAMU gor South Korea.
Produced by Jacqueline Quella and written by creators, co-star Christian Howard and its director, co-star and action director Joey Ansah, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist is a chapterized feature-length martial arts epic based on the highly successful audience response to the 2010 viral shortfilm hit, Street Fighter Legacy, that will also see its creators Howard and Ansah reprising their roles as Ken and Akuma, respectively. Ansah‘s dual-language script will introduce audiences to the formative years of its lead warrior characters, Ryu and Ken (Mike Moh and Christian Howard) who must confront the tragic and dark legacy surrounding their master, the skills they have earned in their training, and an evil force that may threaten their fate as the last practitioners of an ancient fighting style known as the Ansatsuken (a.k.a. The Assassin’s Fist). Game Of Thrones series co-star, actor Mark Killeen also stars as Ken’s father.
Exclusive screenings of footage will be held during next week’s American Film Market in Santa Monica, California next week heading into next year’s online debut, followed by its commercial television and on-demand release and a subsequent feature-length theatrical release.
Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist is a co-production of Assassin’s Fist Limited, along with Lonely Rock Productions, Gloucester Place Films, Evropa Film and Capcom USA.
Ansah and Howard will also be featured in the upcoming AFM screening of director James Nunn’s revenge action thriller, Green Street 3, which is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray in territories within the purview of Lionsgate UK.
