STREET FIGHTER Dragon Uppercuts A New Release Date, Logline And Casting Announcements
Legendary is reportedly pairing with Paramount Pictures for the release of Kitao Sakurai’s Street Fighter, based on the hit capcom fighting game franchise. Production is announcing an October 16, 2026 release date with official cast confirmations via socials, in addition to the film’s logline which you can read below via THR:
Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!
The film will star Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog and Jason Momoa as Blanka, along with Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Kyle Mooney as Marvin and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.
Sakurai directs from a script by Dalan Musson. the director will be the latest to helm a live-action project based on the property following Wong Jing (Future Cops), Steven E. de Souza (Street Fighter), Andrzej Bartkowiak (Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li), and Joey Ansah (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist).
Street Fighter will be the first title to roll out in a three-year output deal between Legendary and Paramount going forward. News comes just as Legendary’s output deal with Sony expired late last year.
