Super Megaforce Brings Classic Rangers Back To Television

I rarely cover tokusatsu since I can’t keep up as much as I would like to. So it has been a while for me since I have seen a Power Rangers episode. Nonetheless, the suited superheroes of Japanese-American crossover fandom remain popular among ranger-buffs almost no matter where you are in the world.

With just eleven more episodes in this year’s season of Power Rangers: Megaforce, the guys over at Saban are working on bringing back a fresh and bold look into a new Fall line-up for next year, featuring a cast of veteran Power Rangers’ past, reviving the excitement of its fanbase for its beloved Ranger characters. This week, Henshin Justice Unlimited has some coverage forwarded from the Rangers’ info-circle throughout the web regarding a new sequel series titled Super Megaforce, which may make its premiere in the Fall of 2014. The photo composites you see above and below are that of likely and possible names of cast members from previous seasons, including (as pictured above from left to right) actor, veteran power ranger and MMA athlete Jason David Frank, along with Jason Faunt, Najee De-Tiege, Brittany Pirtle, Hector David Jr., Sean Johnson, Selwyn Ward, Danny Slavin, Melody Perkins, and Reggie Rolle. Also in talks to return are Blake Foster and Alex Heartman (pictured below).

Due to reasons such as budget restrictions and lack of communication, other cast members either turned down their offers or were not invited to appear in the new series include David Yost, Karan Ashley, Walter Jones, Alan Palmer, The DiFilippo Triplets – Ted, Tim and Tommy, Rhett Fisher, Steve Cardenas and many more.

The current series, Power Rangers: Megaforce, is in the middle of its twentieth season on American television. The show airs on Nickelodeon every Saturday at 1:00pm EST/12:00pm central. The series stars Andrew Gray, John Mark Loudermilk, Christina Masterson, Ciara Hanna and Azim Rizik.

Alex Heartman currently stars in the DVD release of Power Rangers: Clash Of The Red Rangers, now available at Amazon.
