TACFEST IV: Robert Samuels, Silvio Simac, And Jose Manuel To Partake In This Year’s Fourth Action-Packed Edition
The jury is out as we await to learn more about the upcoming fourth edition of the Toledo Action Fest & Expo, while the organization is now touting its latest artwork for its three day event on May 13. The organization is also promoting the expected arrivals of actor and Hong Kong Stunt veteran Robert Samuels (Red Wolf, The Gambling Ghost), Silvio Simac (Transporter 3, The Shepherd Code), and Jose Manuel (El Testigo, Indie Guys).
“Toledo isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a UNESCO World Heritage city where cultures converge,” said Manuel, who will be heading up the festival’s annual incumbent Film Screen Fighting Workshop. “A place where history, art, and philosophy echo through centuries… the perfect stage to explore action cinema as expression. Like Quixote chasing giants, we chase something just as elusive—truth in movement, poetry in combat, and meaning beyond the frame.”
Our own Mike Garcia has been a core member of the org’s jury selects these last several years and we’re both looking forward to some correspondence on this end. Garcia, namely, has put his weight in with a slew of reviews previewing titles like Runner, Kigurumi Blade, I’ll Crush Y’all, and Gatillero, to name a few; On my end I got to screen Gatillero, as well as be one of the earlier viewers of Shane Kosugi’s directorial debut, Seek, as well as Angel G. Brophy’s hit shortfilm thriller, “Angie,” which continues to win awards at festivals to this day.
Both Seek and “Angie” were among the awarded recipients of the organization’s Quixote Award ceremony last year, alongside Kenji Tanigaki for his work on Soi Cheang’s Twilight Of The Warriors: Walled In. Imaginably, the bar has been set high enough that we expect this fourth edition to live up to the hype.
