47 RONIN Sequel Lands At Universal 1440, Ron Yuan To Direct

Actor Ron Yuan will direct a sequel to the Carl Rinsch-directed 2013 period samurai thriller, 47 Ronin, according to Dino-Ray Ramos at Deadline. The film will be Yuan’s latest feature foray at the helm since shepherding Lionsgate’s 2019 dance comp drama, Step Up China. Keanu Reeves led Rinsch’s film which, apart from its real-life historical roots, is delivered with an epic fantasy twist for the story of a band of masterless 18th-century swordsmen who set out to avenge their lord at the hands of his rival. The film also starred Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Ko Shibasaki, Rinko Kikuchi and Cary Tagawa. Production took place in 2011 with reshoots in 2012 along with extended shoots, prior to post-production issues that reportedly resulted in Rinsch’s removal from the editing room while the studio finished up. Universal Pictures has a new behind the scenes featurette now going viral for director Carl Rinsch‘s new film, 47 Ronin. The featurette, courtesy of MSN and now available on the film’s official Facebook page, focuses heavily on the characters portrayed by actors Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada, the relative to the action that moviegoers can expect to see, and more. The film, which also stars Ko Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi, has since been released in Japan and newly released in several territories on Christmas Day, including in North America, with further worldwide releases pending. Just days away from the Christmas Day release of director Carl Rinsch‘s upcoming theatrical samurai epic, 47 Ronin, Yahoo! Movies delievered a brand new featurette for the film with Rinsch, and actors Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada discussing the film’s various themes played throughout the story. The new UK trailer is up for the Christmas day release of 47 Ronin. This week we have two new international teasers for director Carl Rinsch‘s upcoming fantasy action adventure period epic, 47 Ronin. The teasers arrive just a month after the first teaser for the film’s North American release came back in late July. The new teasers confirm same-day screening dates for Taiwan and Hong Kong in accordance with the U.S.. Well, that didn’t take long, as Universal Pictures just released four new character posters for director Carl Rinsch‘s upcoming fantasy swordplay action adventure, 47 Ronin. Indeed, it has been a journey for the upcoming Samurai fantasy adventure, 47 Ronin, loosely based on a true story and adapted for the screen by Carl Rinsch in his first time at the helm of a major Hollywood picture. Having had its release date pushed back once before, the overbudgeted Universal Pictures release found itself plagued with reshoots through the summer of 2012 until the studio eventually ended up pulling Rinsch from the project. In Rinsch’s defense, an interview with Hollywood.com revealed stunt coordinator Gary Powell‘s take on what was needed for Rinsch to help create the right blend of fantasy and reality for the action. “It was a quick couple of weeks reshoot, story points and all that,” he said. “It will make the film better.
