SECTION 8: AMC Networks Acquires Christian Sesma’s New Action Thriller For Fall Theatrical And Streaming Release

The official first look photo is now out and running online for Paydirt and Take Back helmer Christian Sesma’s new action thriller, Section 8. The new asset arrives announcing the film’s acquisition by AMC Networks for a same-day theatrical release September 23 from RLJE Films, and exclusively on streaming platform, AMC+. Sesma directs from a script by Chad Law (Drive Hard), Josh Ridgway (Howlers), with a cast led by Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables), Dermot Mulroney (“Hanna”), Scott Adkins (Legacy Of Lies, upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4) and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). AMC Networks Acquires Distributor Sentai

It was announced recently that Sentai Holdings, the distributor of primarily anime products in the west, has been acquired by AMC Networks. The company responsible for shows such as The Walking Dead and a wealth of networks and streaming services, did not disclose financial terms of the deal, but did share that it would include HIDIVE, the anime streaming service, and Cool Japan Fund, a public-private investment fund in Japan. “With strong industry relationships and access to key content creators in Japan, Sentai distributes and curates one of the anime industry’s most diverse libraries of top trending and classic titles, with its content available on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Amazon Prime, among others. Sky series Gangs Of London is currently slated for a summer Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD release in the U.K. as reported a few days ago, but the show isn’t done making headlines this week. The hit crime series, about the son of a gangster who vows retribution amidst the turmoil and upheaval within London’s seedy criminal and political underbelly, is now on par for a second season, and will be co-produced by AMC. The network has also acquired U.S. rights to broadcast the first season in a date to be announced for the Fall. Gangs Of London hails from Pulse Films and Sister Pictures, and is the brainchild of Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, the respective director and cinematographer behind Indonesian action crime saga, The Raid and The Raid 2.
