AFM 2018: Scott Adkins Thriller, KARMOUZ WAR, Shops Around For Premiere Through Next Week

Peter Mimi’s latest 1952-set thriller, Karmouz War, saw a release in Egypt over the summer and now the film will be setting sail in the marketplace courtesy of Premiere Entertainment Group. The Los Angeles-based company has launched talks with buyers for the film which stars Amir Karara opposite action star Scott Adkins, and is penned by Mimi from a story by producer Mohamed El Sobky. A British soldier (Adkins) is locked up by his own army for military misconduct, but is unleashed by the British as their secret weapon when fighting the Egyptian soldiers, who are led by General Yousef al-Masri in Karmouz, Alexandria during English-occupied Egypt. Karim Gawish served as executive producer for Lucid Film. I imagine further retooling will be applied for any Western profusion of Peter Mimi’s latest, Karmouz War. Needless to say, he’s got something pretty feasible on his hands with local Egyptian actor Amir Karara starring as a police officer during the tumultuous reign of King Farouk – Egypt’s last king. He’ll be joined opposite martial arts star Scott Adkins in his Egyptian debut and no less judging by the trailer, turning Egypt upside down while going toe-to-toe with Karara in the course of things. The film will open on the week of June 14 in Egypt in time for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which is all we know until we learn which sales agency gets it first for market repping so, stay tuned for that news as well. With a swathe of projects coming in through next year, actor and martial artist Scott Adkins is adding to the list having headed to Egypt for his latest endeavors, Thus, advancing the production of the new movie, Harb Karmooz (Karmooz Wars), is director Peter Mimi who also rejoins Amir Karara, the star of Mimi’s recent framed fugitive TV series drama, Kalabash. Details on Adkins’s role remain hidden while the overall plot sees our setting during the middle of the 20th century under the reign of Egypt’s last royal, King Farouk. Mohamed el Sobky’s script sees Karara starring as Youssef el Masry, a police officer living in the district of Karmooz in Alexandria where he fights and fends off numerous villains and at one point saves a girl from being raped.
