FIRESTORM Gets A U.S. Release Date

Actor Andy Lau is a fan favorite among many Asian cinema lovers, and his latest appearance in Alan Yuen‘s directorial debut, Firestorm, is proof of that. The film was a box office holiday hit last year with mixed-to-positive reviews and is now making its way to the U.S. this fall, courtesy of Well Go USA. If you’ve been following the updates on writer/director Alan Yuen‘s latest film, Firestorm, chances are you have gotten a pretty good foothold of just how phenomenal the reviews have been. There already plenty of trailers and behind-the-scenes bits floating online discussing the film and its key story, characters and riveting action and stunt sequences by coordinator Chin Kar-Lok. Furthermore, the word is that the film is turning out to be one of lead actor/producer Andy Lau‘s best within the past year. One can only hope this film makes its way overseas to other countries in the very, VERY near future. Several new trailers and posters for writer and director Alan Yuen‘s latest action thriller, Firestorm, are here. The new feature debut from Yuen starring actor and producer Andy Lau and actor Gordon Lam is already the talk of the town with sites like Jaynestars lending its own praise for the film’s authenticity to classic Hong Kong action. The film is heading for Hong Kong theaters on December 12, 2013 in China, and on December 19th in 2D and 3D, and also stars Hu Jun, Yao Chen, Ray Lui, and Michael Wong, with appearances by Kenny Wong, Oscar Leung and Cheung Kwok Keung. Starring Andy Lau as a cop on a desperate manhunt for a ruthless criminal and his network, the latest cop thriller from Edko Films will premiere domestically on December 19 for a 2D and 3D release. The film also stars Yao Chen, Gordon Lam, Hu Jun, Ray Lui and Eddie Cheung. [UPDATED] Andy Lau Is On The Hunt In New Promotional Posters For Cop Thriller FIRESTORM

New promotional images are out for Rob-B-Hood scribe, director Alan Yuen‘s upcoming action thriller, Firestorm. The images so far include 2 new posters and a banner featuring lead actor Andy Lau (Switch, Blind Detective), who is said to be producing with EDKO Films head Bill Kong, who is also overseeing the production of Roy Chow’s Wong Fei Hung flick, Rise Of A Legend. According to further reports from Jayne Stars, Firestorm will have all the trimmings of an electrifying action thriller showcasing Lau as a cop who conditionally employs his childhood friend and ex-convict to infiltrate the elusive ringleader of a notorious criminal gang. New Poster For SWITCH

Filmsmash has a new poster for the upcoming June 12, 2013 China 3D release of director Jay Sun’s espionage action thriller, Switch. The film underwent some scruitiny since its postponed October 2012 release, between Chinese censors citing missing music, breach of national security, and extra post VFX editing on behalf of the film’s lead actor, Andy Lau. The film is one of China’s most expensive productions, rounding at 160 million RMB, and was a collaborative effort between collaboration of four major studios and was shot between six countries, with the help of VFX editor Chuck Comisky whose previous credits include Jaws 3-D, The Crow, Blade and James Cameron’s epic sci-fi adventure, Avatar. Switch also stars Zhang Jingchu, Lin Chi-ling and Tong Dawei. The new trailer for the upcoming film, SWITCH, is now available online, starring Hong Kong Canto-pop singer, producer and Hong Kong action star Andy Lau, along with Lin Chi-Ling, Zhang Jingchu and Tong Dawei and directed by Jay Sun. SWITCH is described as a slick new 3D espionage spy thriller about a special agent and an insurance company employee who set out on a mission to protect a famous piece of artwork. After the release of the international trailer last year, the movie underwent several critical hurdles that crippled its scheduled October 2012 release, dealing with reshoots, music, special effects and real world situations that were impacting the film’s progress with the censorship board, among other things.
