THE VIRTUOSO Review – A Timely Thriller About Assassinations and Isolation.
Isolation is something every person has become more familiar with over the past year. Keeping distance from others is now more common than any other time in recent history. Deliberate rituals and protocols keep us safe from harm. Human contact is thoughtfully considered and weighed against the risk it causes. All those things have become the everyday reality for reasonable people as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be an issue worldwide. The world has become a little lonelier in ways it may possibly never fully recover from. I was reminded of all these things as I watched THE VIRTUOSO, a film clearly made before the pandemic but that still feels so deeply rooted in the shared trauma of the here and now.

The next chapter in the Marvel saga is coming in IMAX and serial form for home viewing with Marvel’s Inhumans this September. With a second official poster in our wake, we now have our first official trailer teasing internal upheaval and ultimate conflict within a superhuman family.
“Marvel’s Inhumans” explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. THE INHUMANS Lands Its First Teaser
Let’s just put this out there: Regardless of how ecstatic you are over Marvel’s The Inhumans, it looks less than stellar or even IMAX worthy judging by Thursday’s EW reveal of our cast in costume. Perhaps some footage may tell a different tale, but that’s not what we get in the new teaser now online. Instead… we get voices!
Check it out below and see if it’s your thing or not. It could be, but I rest my case here until I see some actual superhero action adjudicating why we should see the first two IMAX-bound episodes from director Roel Reine. That premiere will arrive with the first two episodes on September 1 before commencing its small screen run on September 26 for eight more episodes from ABC after frequenting Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. to tease with for so long.
The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.
Starring are Anson Mount, Ken Leung, Serinda Swan, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Iwan Rheon, Mike Moh, Sonya Balmores and Ellen Woglom. Catch the teaser now!

Marvel’s THE INHUMANS Casts Anson Mount
While it took a few years for Marvel to get its footing with its stake on The Inhumans, the previously-planned MCU film eventually switched gears toward television as of last November. For this, we turn to the latest announcement of Hell On Wheels actor Anson Mount now being poised to play the role of Black Bolt in the forthcoming adaptation.
Originally the 1965 brainchild of comic book auteurs Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, The Inhumans story is one that eventually branches out to other comic book properties throughout its history, but mainly centers on a society of superhumans who were originally test subjects of the Kree alien race thousands of years ago in an attempt to build an army to defeat the Skrulls in a time of war. This very secret society of superhumans were led by their king, Black Bolt whose voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
Added executive producer and showrunner Scott Buck, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
Mount is so far joined by Iwan Rheon (“Game of Thrones,” “Misfits” “Vicious”) as the clever and charming, loyal and secretly ambitious Maximus The Mad. Also executive producing is Jim Chory for The Admiral and Hard Target 2 helmer Roel Reine who is directing the first two episodes which will premiere in IMAX theaters this September preceding an eight-episode run on ABC Television.
