Lee’s taut espionage overture with Operation Chromite, Kwak Kyung-taek (Friend) and Kim Tae-hun (Iris 2) arrived this year set upon 2019 to release Battle Of Jangsari, continuing the epic, chapterized saga chronicling the Korean War during the 1950s. BATTLE OF JANGSARI Review: A Riveting Tale Of True Triumph In The Face Of Troubling Bureaucracy

Director John H. Lee’s Operation Chromite was a lean, explosive espionage thriller that explored the trevails of a strategy that endured its own ample share of politics. The result was a costly victory that otherwise helped turn the tide on North Korea whilst celebrating the memory of the heroic squad that led point for General MacArthur’s siege at Incheon. Continuing the epic, cinematic war commemoration with a script by Lee Man-Hee and Jung Tae-Won, directing duo Kwak Kyung-Taek and Kim Tae-Hoon offer up Battle Of Jangsari, diving straight from a rocky boat and into roaring waters and the firey rollercoaster toils of war. I still have homework to do with Operation Chromite. In the meantime, its current follow-up, Kwak Kyung-Taek’s Battle Of Jangsari is poised for a North American open in select theaters, digital and VoD on October 11 from Well Go USA, and the official trailer has arrived to seal the deal. In 1950, over 700 student soldiers with only two weeks of boot camp training are deployed to open a path for the larger Incheon Landing Operation. This battle helped to turn the tide of the war against the communist backed forces from the North. This announcement’s been waiting for a while now but reports are now confirming Well Go USA’s acquisition of director Lee Man-Hee’s Operation Chromite follow-up, Battle Of Jangsari. SHINee member Choi Min-ho stars along with Kim Myung-min, Kim Sung-cheol and Kim In-kwon with Megan Fox and George Eads also starring. Based on a true story of Jangsari Landing Operation, 772 student soldiers – whose average age was 17 and who received just 2 weeks of boot camp training – were tossed into Korean War effort in order to pave the way for Incheon Landing Operation, which turned the tide of war. Patrick Frater at Variety reports the film also screened for buyers during the run of the Toronto International Film Festival. Just below we now have what appears to be a first look at Kwak Kyung-taek (Dark Figure Of Crime, RV: Resurrected Victims) and Kim Tae-hun’s new Korean war epic, Battle Of Jangsari – that’s the current working title from Warner Bros. Pictures Korea and Taewon Entertainment. Finecut is currently at Cannes and repping international sales rights on the project which stars SHINee member Choi Min-ho (Illang: The Wolf Brigade), Kim Sung-cheol (Prison Playbook – TV) and Megan Fox (Transformers, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen).
