It’s the new film adapting original Japanese IP and its Ameritoku crossover in the 90’s and while we had only a teaser to go by last year, we finally get a full trailer that gives us the goods. SYNOPSIS: Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. It’s been well over two decades since Japanese Tokusatsu took America by storm with Saban’s own Fox Kids programming in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and the show itself has spawned a vast, almost nebulous evolution all its own. The costumes, powers and stories have remained ever evolving, turning it into a cultural phenomenon that has done wonders for the comic con community and martial arts fans alike. Thus, it’s only fitting that Lionsgate take to their audience with this weekend’s presentation of the film along with a cast and crew Q&A for director Dean Israelite’s upcoming iteration, Saban’s Power Rangers. Back in full force this week is director Dean Isrealite’s new movie, Power Rangers, now ready to make its presence known at Comic Con International: San Diego ahead of its release next year. As such, the campaign continues as we slowly inch toward a teaser, with a slow and steady rollout of posters and images to bask in – one now coming courtesy of USA Today revealing a new image of our cast in costume. Check it out: The film takes its cues from the 1993 Ameritoku crossover series titled close to the same name for Fox Kids prior to feature film adaptations thereafter. There have been several behind-the-scenes photos going viral for director Dean Israelite’s latest, Power Rangers, and while I won’t share them here, I do say that I am keen on where they might be going, and specifically with regard to actress Elizabeth Banks in the role of intergalatic villain, Rita Repulsa. Here it definitely looks like she’ll be a bit more hands on with our color-coded young adult heroes as seen in the latest photo from the official Facebook page, compared to that of the initial 1993 series inspired by its Japan roots.
