DIRECTING A DANCE OF VENGEANCE: Director Sam Puefua Talks Revenge Action Thriller Shortfilm, MAMBA

The latter end of May through early June saw the emergence of a promo campaign for a project now shaping up be quite the festival favorite. The project in question hails actress Sonalii Castillo in her latest electrifying role in Mamba, a new revenge shortfilm thriller from actor and filmmaker Sam Puefua. “Sonalii brings a level of authenticity to her character,” says Puefua who also co-stars as Sam, a former soldier who applies his skillset aptly as Kali’s right-hand man. “She’s a hard worker and very passionate about her role, and having created this character, there’s no one better than her to bring this character to life!” Heralded as a cross between John Wick and Colombiana, Mamba is currently garnering acceptances and praise from multiple territories in North America and Europe with Castillo having recently won the Gold Award for Best Actress at the Independent Shorts Awards. Go Behind-The-Scenes With These Featurettes For CALL OF HEROES

We’re more than a month and a half away from the release of director Benny Chan’s new film, Call Of Heroes with actors Sean Lau, Louis Koo, Eddie Peng and Wu Jing starring. The trailers have all been outstanding and so there’s no question about the anticipation from fans overall, and thanks in large part to the raft of behind-the-scenes featurettes running online. There are several I’m sharing here and mainly to help whet the appetite some for fans like myself of Sammo Hung who produces and serves as fight choreographer. Peng and Wu are pretty much the center of these videos and they’re pretty fun to watch working together on such a lively set, and separately, I have my own ideas on what their roles may very well be here. It looks good and feels promising long before its release in August. Check them out below!

Sam Mendes Talks SPECTRE In A New Set Video

Updates on the production on Sam Mendes’s forthcoming new movie fron Sony Pictures, Spectre continues and several set pics have already begun making the rounds, including the very set photo above from earlier this month. Actor Daniel Craig reprises his role for the forth time with set of new faces taking the place of the franchise’s classic characters, including the respective iterations of Moneypenny, M and Q by actress Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Wishaw. A Grand Housing Of Set Props Highlight New BTS Footage For DRAGON BLADE

International action star and soon-to-be star of the upcoming Skiptrace and the India/China co-production of Kung Fu Yoga, actor Jackie Chan continues to be all the rave this month going into the new year with the upcoming release of director Daniel Lee‘s Dragon Blade. That said, I wouldn’t worry too much about a trailer what with all the pictorials and featurettes now making the rounds online, including a slate of pictures illustrating the scope of the production and design comprising the film’s record $65 million dollar budget. I can’t remember exactly when it was the last time I saw a full row of cameras on a set for any movie for a “bullet-time” shot, but apparently this technique is still popular enough to use. Director Roy Chow became keen to this on the set of his upcoming new movie, Rise Of The Legend, starring leading man Eddie Peng in the title role of Wong Fei-Hung, and while some will sure have their opinions about wire-work – a technique used for decades in Asian cinema and stagework, its use here does have some technological appeal. Besides, the last thing I think anyone would want is to see Peng try to do a “No Shadow Kick” of any kind without wires. Moviegoers in China are less than a month away from the theatrical release of director Roy Chow‘s newest, Rise Of The Legend. The new film highlights the rebellious origins of martial arts master and legend, Wong Fei-Hung and his fellow cohorts in their enduring battle against human traffickers, gangsters and the criminally corrupt. Yes, I know, I’m being repetitive. Sorry not sorry. Merely hours after the most recent promotional pictures and posters were shared for the forthcoming release of director Teddy Chen‘s new martial arts thriller, Kung Fu Jungle, I would be foolish not to share another slate of promo materials that have now gone viral. The content includes a brand new featurette, and some new pics, and you can check those out right now, as well as the latest trailer just in case you’ve been living under a rock. The film is slated for its premiere at the 58th annual BFI London Film Festival on October 12 before opening two and a half weeks later in Hong Kong and China. The film stars Donnie Yen, Wang Baoqiang and Charlie Yeung.

Ten hours a day for eight months is the reported duration spent while training lead actor Eddie Peng and the principle cast and crew for the forthcoming release of director Roy Chow‘s new film, Rise Of The Legend. Peng steps into shoes of previous legendary actors to claim the role of cinematic kung fu icon and late martial arts master and healer, Wong Fei-Hung in Chow‘s origin telling of young Wong’s inspirational rise against corruption and injustice in the late Qing Dynasty. Watch LUCY Breeze Through Baddies And Bad Traffic In Two New B-Roll Clips

Director Luc Besson‘s latest cerebral sci-fi action thriller, Lucy is getting its day in theaters this Friday. Clearly Besson enjoyed sharing the set with actress Scarlett Johansson in the title role, and he sure shows it in the latest two B-roll clips from the set of the film now online, along with an interview clip. On a more personal note, I have to say how awesome a treat it is knowing someone I met personally worked on this film, particularly my friend, stuntman Anthony Pho who appears briefly on a wire-rig in the first embed (4:20-4:40), and accordingly in the film. I met the guy last year in NYC and he’s too cool for words. Yeah, I’m giddy. Sue me.  Check out the videos below and buy your tickets wherever tickets are sold!

Actress Son Ye-jin is getting the spotlight this week for her role in the upcoming release of director Lee Seok-hoon‘s high seas action epic The Pirates. Based on a script by Cheong Seong-il, the new film sets Son as the leader of her own gang of pirates opposite a bandit named Sa-jung (Kim Nam-gil) who is in search of a royal seal believed to be swallowed by a large sea creature. Part Two Of THE RAID 2: Behind The Scenes Is Here

With the first of two behind the scenes videos being aired this month, a second one is now up for the upcoming release of The Raid 2, which you can check out below. The new featurette shows a little bit more new footage of the action, and also offers a little more from writer/director Gareth Evans and the cast and crew on the editing process, details and experiences on certain sets, the score, and the “different kind of assassin” fans will see played by returning actor Yayan Ruhian, among other things. The film launches in selected territories around the world, including Indonesia, New Zealand/Australia, and in the U.S. in New York and L.A. on March 28 with further releases thereafter. Blockbuster action star Dolph Lundgren took to Whosay on Wednesday to invite social media fans and followers of the actor for a sneak peek description of a day on the set of The Expendables 3. The reel also includes Lundgren lifting weights and curling on the set, and even posing for promotional photos while in character portraying fellow Expendable Gunnar Jensen.
