Jackie Chan’s BLEEDING STEEL Crosses Over To The U.S. On July 6!

Right about now it’s America’s turn to get ready to see Jackie Chan on the big screen with Leo Zhang’s sci-fi action thriller, Bleeding Steel. I haven’t read the reviews so I can’t say my piece fully on this but I’m more than welcome to the opinions and comments of fans who’ve been catching it since its theatrical Asian rollout in December. Leo Zhang’s China-Australia co-production, Bleeding Steel is readying releases worldwide thanks in large part to its worldwide acquisition by Swen Asia, excluding China. The Swen Group’s Swen Asia shingle is prepping a simultaneous day-and-date theatrical and digital rollout in association with WME-IMG China on December 22 with territories slated for North America, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and most Asian territories. Jackie Chan, fresh off of impressing audiences in Martin Campbell’s The Foreigner, stars in the Zhang’s sophomore effort which centers on a hardened special forces agent who fends off a criminal gang whilst in protection of a young woman with whom he feels a deeper connection. Bear in mind the fact that Jackie Chan is 63 years old and he’s still doing action movies. Say what you will about any number of his recent titles – some of which I might agree to regarding lackluster delivery, his latest upcoming return to the screen with Martin Campbell’s revenge thriller, The Foreigner, has done plenty in ginning up excitement among loyal Chan fans waiting to see the honorary Award-winning action legend back in his element. Feel The Pulse In The New Teaser For Jackie Chan Sci-Fi Actioner, BLEEDING STEEL

We don’t have much to go by with the first official teaser for the new Jackie Chan action starrer, Bleeding Steel. The footage does, though, get a few points with some albeit fancy VFX to accomodate the brief appearance of our main actor atop the Sydney Opera House along with another performer in a likely fight scene that’s been teased once or twice in Australian news media. The film marks Leo Zhang’s second movie and one that may prove much more prolific as well with Chan in the role of a hardened special forces agent on the run from a sinister criminal gang, protecting a young woman with whom he feels a certain connection. Renny Harlin’s latest, Skiptrace, is off to a good start this past weekend at the box office overseas, which is good news for its lead actor, action star Jackie Chan who is currently scheduled for an In Conversation event at the Syndey Opera House where he will discuss his career in a little over a week. In the meantime, production rolls onward for Chan’s new venture in the area, Bleeding Steel, from sophomore director and writer Leo Zhang as of earlier this month and casting news is finally making the rounds. The film, from Village Roadshow Pictures Asia and Heyi Pictures, sees Chan in the role of a special forces agent fighting to protect an important witness to a major case as the two find themselves tangled in a conspiracy. He just wrapped up business in Beijing for the new Dolby Cinema at Jackie Chan Cinema’s Wuekong and now he’s back at it this month with new set pics surfacing from the streets of Sydney, Australia for his latest leading role in Bleeding Steel from Village Roadshow Pictures Asia and Heyi Pictures. You can give up predicting action star and average everyday working man, Jackie Chan’s retirement. Point in fact, if you’ve at all turned this into a drinking game and lost, congratulations! You now have a new habit to accomdate your DVD collection. Last month’s reported news of the new sci-fi action flick, Bleeding Steel, Leo (Lijia) Zhang’s forthcoming sophmore effort, now has an official announcement to make regarding its status and story details.
