VIRGO AND THE SPARKLINGS Flickers With New Heroics In The First Teaser Poster

The long-burgeoning Bumilangit Cinematic Universe continues onward as fans were handed the most recent teaser poster this month for Virgo And The Sparklings. The film is directed by Ody C. Harahap (Skakmat, Hit & Run) and hails from SK Global and Screenplay Bumilangit following their announced partnership back in 2020. According to comic lore, the story centers around Riani, a teenager with the power to see the color of sound, and who must use her abilities with the help of her band when mysterious forces descend her city into chaos. The film is led by actress and former JKT48 member Adhisty Zara, along with Ashira Zamita and Satine Zanita, among others heading up the roster. SRI ASIH: Gundala’s Big Screen Successor Makes Her Superhero Landing In The First Official Teaser

Three years after the sucessful rollout of Gundala, Joko Anwar’s inaugural superhero entry of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe now has a follow-up in Upi Avianto’s own incarnation of superheroine staple, Sri Asih, which now delivers us a spectacular first teaser featuring actress Pevita Pearce in the title role. Hailing from Screenplay Films and Bumilangit Studios for its big screen release, the trailblazing superhero property was first birthed in 1954 from creator R.A. Kosasih for Melodie Publishers, Bandung. The superheroine now makes her transition to feature film territory following the events of Gundala in which Pearce makes a brief cameo in the role. It was on Sunday at Plaza Senyan in Jakarta that Screenplay Films and comic brand Bumilangit announced its official raft of superhero characters to be featured in the first volume of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe. The announcement comes in the days leading up to the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Joko Anwar’s new movie, Gundala, starring Abimanya Arysatya. That film leads with its title character among a litany of heroes and villains whose stories will now be translated for their big screen in a whole series of film adaptations by several directors by 2025. These also include titles Sri Asih, Godam & Tira, Si Buta Dari Gua Hantu, Patriot Taruna, Gundala Putra Petir, Mandala Golok Setan, and Patriot.
