HIGHLANDER: Script Complete, Pre-Production Begins This Fall

Nearly ten years since Summit Entertainment acquired the rights to longstanding cult classic, Highlander, trade sites are now reporting that Rampage scribe Ryan Condal has turned in a script that has met the studio’s approval. The news brings movement closer to pre-production this October for a 2019 release date to be determined thereafter following director Chad Stahelski’s completion of John Wick: Chapter Three. Stahelski was attached to the film officially back in November 2016 after years of casting rumors and circulation of the projects among several scribes and potential directors. Stunt veteran and second unit director-turned filmmaker Chad Stahelski has his plate full going into 2018. With John Wick: Chapter Three currently in pre-production and a reboot of sword-swinging immortal saga, Highlander, still cooking under the pen, Stahelski is reportedly attached to another project as of this week with word from The Hollywood Reporter on Ed Brubaker’s Sean Phillips-inked 2017 Image Comics publication, Kill Or Be Killed. The project tells of a depressed college student who attempts suicide. Nobody just kills John Wick and lives to tell about it. To that end, you would think, at least from a preventive viewpoint, that his reputation would span far enough to the resident killers, thugs and elitist psychopaths operating in the criminal underworld at large but… nope. Eventually some ambitious villain will come along and push things further into entropy – a realm lined well with the corpses of underlings so as to reaffirm just how much of a gluttonous, self-important asshole one has to be to witness Wick’s reputation in action the hard way, after the fact. Exclusive photos now circulating online can be attributed with returning actor Keanu Reeves and his former Matrix trilogy co-star Lawrence Fishburne, marking this as their latest film since the popular cyberpunk sci-fi action trilogy twelve years ago.
