This week’s Hit List was another down-the-wire bit with a few late entries. WOW! It’s good to be back, I have to say. I needed the break last weekend following a roaring get together with some friends prior to only about 3 or 4 hours of sleep. To be honest though, I almost didn’t get too much into this week’s Hit List whilst trying to balance my job and covering everything that’s happened at Comic-Con this past weekend. Thankfully, I got a bit of a headstart in the last few weeks and so it wasn’t too difficult to put together – starting with the usual list of terrific stunt reels by some of today’s professionals in the industry, veterans as well as up-and-coming. It’s been a busy, busy year for the blog, and I seem to notice I’m running out of outstanding stunt reels. I may have to substitute if this keeps going, although I hope this turns around. My weekend was huge, and the week before it was pretty busy. On a seperate note, I did manage to find a few teasers – one I decided not to include in this article because I wanted to learn a little more about it. Point in fact, I had one horror story earlier this year in which I wrote an article promoting a crowdfunder for a shortfilm thay ended up being plagiarized in not one, but two press releases. It took all but three months of training in hand-to-hand and weapons for independent filmmakers and stunt trainers at Cinematic Fight Studio to help assemble their latest project with student, up-and-coming actress Kadia Saraf. The end result is what you now see in their new experimental action shortfilm, Most Wanted, which showcases Saraf as she takes on a bounty hunter hot on her tail, played by actor, martial artist and fellow trainer and choreographer, Neyssan Falahi. The project marks Saraf‘s first-ever stint in screenfighting, something she’s wanted to do for a while now, and couldn’t have come at better time than several months ago, thanks in part to her already-established friendship with Falahi. The folks over at Cinematic Fight Studio are continue to provide their services as a premier, growing business as independent filmmakers and screenfighting trainers for any and all curious and willing participants. Part of those services include shooting test fights for up and coming film and television actors to add to their reels. Their latest volunteer: Actor Ricky Barksdale who is currently preparing to film the long-awaited installation to independent filmmaker Dominick Sivili’s inspired Power Rangers fan miniseries, MMPR. Cinematic Fight Studio's Latest Short Crosses Bullets And Blades In SPY

The folks at New York City-based Cinematic Fight Studio have a new action short now available on their official YouTube channel in the form of Spy. Filmed back in January, the short was directed and choreographed by Lang Yip, and features performances by Vera Lam and Cinematic Fight Studios’s own Adam Lee, who also utilizes his time as a motion graphics animator, among other things. Of course, Spy is just one of several new projects on the way as Yip and his crew are also producing new videos, as well as preparing the fight choreography for independent filmmaker Anthony Pellino’s upcoming short fan film, Mortal Kombat: The One. Action actor and stuntman Gui Da Silva returns back to the screen for his latest performance in the new shortfilm, Knife Fight. The shortfilm is Da Silva‘s latest (….ahem…) stab at weapons’ choreography opposite fellow actor and stuntman James Young, exquisitely arranged once again by LBP Stunts Chicago’s own Emmanuel Manzanares, who previously directed Da Silva in the stellar pistol-whip action short, Extraction. Both Da Silva and Young kick off the new year in the independent field just months away from seeing their respective stunt credits unveiled for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with their next credited work on director Brent Ryan Green’s upcoming sci-fi thriller, The Veil, set to release in 2015. I read and hear a lot about West coast independent action teams online, but it is also a real gem when I hear about these kinds of things happening in my own neck of the woods. When I first learned about N.Y.C. based screenfighting gym, Cinematic Fight Studio in my most recent interview with French action actor Anthony Pho, I was eager to get in touch with CFS head fight trainer and aspiring filmmaker, Lang Yip, but it took a while.
