MY SON: STXFilms’ Remake Of French Pic Enlists McAvoy And Foy For November Shoot

Filmmaker Christian Carion will remake his 2017 French-language hit missing-persons thriller, My Son, as announced by ErosSTX, as announced on Monday. STXfilms has closed the rights for the pic and have cast James McAvoy and Claire Foy. Carion, who will also produce the experimental new thriller, will shoot the film in November in Scotland with McAvoy starring in a story about a man who travels to the town of his ex-wife (Foy), in a desperate search for answers when only son goes missing. The plan is to shoot in the same style as Carion did for his 2017 film of the same name: McAvoy will have no script or dialogue, and instead, will improvise his way forward using only basic aspects of the story, to constitute a character whose life is clouded by mystery. THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB: A Bittersweet Reunion Looms In The Newest Trailer

Fede Alvarez is at the helm for the latest rousing push for upcoming thriller, The Girl In The Spider’s Web. Following suit from David Fincher’s inaugural 2011 film revamp of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Emmy-winning actress Claire Foy fronts the sequel from a script by Alvarez, and co-scribes Jay Basu and Steven Knight. Foy is joined by actor Sverrir Gudnason as both the elusive tough-as-nails cult heroine and computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist who find themselves embroiled in a web of espionage, cybercrime and government corruption. There’s not much else to the plot at hand but the reveal of actress Sylvia Hoeks seems intriguing to the matter. Rounding out the cast are Lakeith Stanfield, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund and Vicky Krieps for the film’s November 9 release.

Apparently director Steve Soderburgh’s latest horror thriller is being shot using an iPhone – I couldn’t tell you much of anything since I’m an Android user but I guess the Logan Lucky helmer was up for a fitting challenge. At any rate, New Regency announced on Wednesday that the company has acquired the international distribution rights to the Academy Award winning director’s upcoming psychological horror thriller, Unsane. The new move underscores New Regency’s m.o. to collaborate with like-minded and visionary creative talent. Leading the cast is actress Claire Foy who plays a young woman involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear while identifying whether or not it is real, or a figment of her delusion.
