THE HIT LIST: May 27, 2019

It’s Sunday as I’m writing all of this and operating on only four hours of sleep as we speak as I’ve put together this Hit List – I totally blame John Wick for that… Good times! THE HIT LIST: March 20, 2017

Well, it’s been another close call but I finally managed to bring you this week’s installation of The Hit List for your own viewing pleasure. Last week was crazy packed with festival news upkeep from Asia along with posting our recent inteview with actress Yadi Nieves and managing to review Mitsutake Kurando’s new movie, Karate Kill, which releases this summer. Considering all this and then some, I’m ready for the weekend! Corridor Digital Presents: SHADOW OF MORDOR Fan Film

Invariably, to describe the journey taken by director Peter Jackson in paving the way for J.R.R. Tolkien’s cinematic universe for The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as something “epic” almost doesn’t do it any justice. It’s been nearly two decades since Jackson took the necessary steps to bring the books to life, and the franchise has already built itself a humongous following in time for the theatrical finale, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, this December. Of course, the franchise has its own video games as well, one which goes public later this month in the form of Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor from Warner Bros. Interactive. It's Mario's World In Corridor Digital's Latest, POWERED UP!

It’s always good to see fresh and new stuff from Corridor Digital’s Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer. Heavily action oriented, the two filmmakers have a great knack for blending their visual style and creativity with overall knowledge of popular entertaining culture, translating it all into a series of gems that continue to grant them their growing audience. And this week, the trend continues with their latest independent piece of cinematic shortfilm awesomeness, Powered UP! featuring Nintendo mainstay Mario fighting for his most treasured power-ups against your favorite game character: Assassin Kenway, Lara Croft and Master Chief… and a giant hungry piranha plant. The Future Is On Fire In The New Action Short, BLOOD DRAGON: THE CYBER WAR

Well, this was a pleasant piece of film to wake up to! I’m not totally endowed in knowledge about videogames, but that doesn’t stop Corridor Digital’s latest collaborative project from looking as ridiculously and unapologetically AWESOME as it does. Yes, the EMC Monkeys have done it again with Blood Dragon: The Cyber Wars, the latest short film based on the FarCry trilogy of videogames that began in 2004. The shortfilm features EMC Monkeys member Xin Sarith Wuku in an dark and post-apocalyptic world filled with androids, explosions, big guns, lazers, swordfighting and all kinds of retro-cool set pieces filled with 80s and 90s cyberpunk nostalgia. There isn’t much else for me to add without either spoiling it or boring you about it with more writing.
