The movie makes its World Premiere at the Big Bad Film Fest on Friday night!
The official trailer arrived this week for Bangkok Dog starring D.Y. Sao, Byron Bishop, and Sahajak Boonthanakit. The film previously screened for audiences this summer for the second edition of the Big Bad Film Fest upon which our site was one of the few graced with the chance to present a review for the new action adventure from burgeoning director Chaya Supanarat and producer Prachya Pinkaew, who is best known for directing hit 2003 Thai blockbuster, Ong Bak. After intercepting a shipment of drugs from Thailand and discovering five dead bodies amidst the illicit cargo, special agent Andrew Kang (D.Y. Sao) arrests the international drug cartel’s Los Angeles-based operative (Brian Le) and impersonates him to go deep undercover in the Bangkok criminal underworld. But as he works to gain the trust of higher-ups in the gang’s inner circle, the line between cop and criminal becomes increasingly blurred, leaving him—and his […]
Little is all but known about what lies ahead for director Pearry Reginald Teo’s next endeavor, save for the fact that he’s already deep into his next project, Hanuman, which sees him partnering once again with his Fast Vengeance star D.Y. Sao. The film also has actor and stunt performer Brian Le on board, among the cadre of hard-working and hard-earning fire and brimstone martial arts action stunt troupe, Martial Club, best known for exceling in recent hit box office feats like Well Go USA’s The Paper Tigers, Andy Long’s Luc Van Tien: KungFu Hustle and Marvel’s Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings. Hanuman was supposed to be filmed in Thailand months ago with the involvement of Prachya Pinkaew (Ong Bak, Tom Yum Goong) in a behind-the-scenes capacity, until Covid became a factor and lockdowns upended those prospects. Shooting instead is underway in Kentucky, and with little else […]
Director Pearry Reginald Teo (The Gene Generation, The Assent) quietly emerged on ad-supported free streaming app, Tubi, with his latest action thriller, Fast Vengeance. Previously titled Burnout, Fast Vengeance stars D.Y. Sao, an actor and martial artist who’s been hustling for longer than I’ve been writing with small roles in films like Cradle 2 The Grave, and larger ones in indies like R.L. Scott’s martial arts action sequel, Champion Road: Arena. He’s also been privy to crowdfunding efforts that would’ve eventually seen him more prolifically even sooner than now, and unfortunately, those campaigns fell short of their goals. Nonetheless, with the days of Sao’s Usurp Productions long behind him, it’s high time I finally started seeing more of Sao on screen, especially considering his action performance caliber and athleticism could easily contend with that of other stars today. Sao can even be seen as of late among the crop of […]
