DUST TO DUST: Don’t Miss The First Thrilling Teaser For Jonathan Li’s Heist Drama

After shelling out enough to win actor Da Peng a Golden Goblet Award for Best Actor at the Shanghai Film Festival this week, the actor’s awarded performance was soon sampled among the cast for Dust To Dust. Production began roughly four years ago, reteaming The Brink helmer and producer Jonathan Li and Soi Cheang, respectively. The story comes ripped from the headlines as it’s inspired by one of the biggest crimes in regional history when armed gangsters violently robbed a transport vehicle of up to fifteen million yuan in 1995. Dust To Dust chronicles the efforts undertaken during ghe to catch the criminals, as well as the interwoven drama that ensues between members of the gang. The film also stars Zhang Song Wen, Sun Yang, Wang Zi Chen, Lam Ka Tung and Xi Qi, and opens in China on September 9. Check out the teaser!

Da Peng is a popular Chinese comedian, who had a successful web series on the Chinese internet called “Diors Man”, who had his moment of glory when Conan O’Brien accused him of plagiarism on his show, and for a few months, the two were throwing fun gibes to each other from their respective shows. For this crazy meta-comedy, he became an orchestra man, being the screenwriter, the main actor, and debuted as a director in a major film, surrounding himself of the best of the chinese entertainment industry. It’s been five years since actor Da Peng’s Jian Bing Man put him on my radar. I’ve yet to see that one as it was never granted the legit U.S. release it was announced for, though the actor himself has managed to maintain his trajectory some. The Journey To The West 2 and Vortex actor’s return to the big screen now brings us The Winners, opening next month in China. Peng plays Yanjin, an earnest and vexatious bank worker whose whose latest branch assignment has his co-workers training in robbery prepardness, and him, training to be a real bank robber for that reason. It’ll be a relief going into the summer for fans looking to check out Gan Jianyu’s latest crime thriller, Vortex, with release date now set for August 16. The newest official trailer has also arrived and still serves up an enticing sample to take from until then. LIU is in desperate need of money after losing at gambling, again. A friend can help, he just needs to steal an unregistered car back and resell it. The simple scam becomes complicated when they find a little girl in the trunk of the car. VORTEX: Catch The Teaser For Gan Jianyu’s Brooding New Crime Thriller

Gan Jianyu’s newest crime thriller, Vortex, offers a seething and brutal look into a tale of greed and honor. The footage alone speaks volumes for itself and currently serves as one of the crown jewels of Asian arthouse banner Fortissmo Films’ 2019 sales roster going into the new year after recently emerging from bankruptcy. There’s no real release date as of yet but I suspect at least a mid-summer or early Fall rollout given the timing of the teaser now running online. Vortex features The Thousand Faces Of Dunjia actor Da Peng in the role of Liu, a gambling addict whose debt troubles grow more complex when he finds a young girl in the trunk of an unregistered car he tries to sell after stealing.
