Cleaner stars Daisy Ridley, Taz Skylar and Clive Owen, and opens in U.S. theaters on February 21 from Quiver Distribution.
12:05 EST: Updated with official poster art Earlier: Martin Campbell is back in the headlines these days with the director touting his newest action thriller, Cleaner. The film stars none other than Daisy Ridley, chucking one-liners at Clive Owen in Die Hard fashion, as seen in the official first trailer which launched on Thursday also featuring actor and martial artist Taz Skylar in a co-antagonistic role. Cleaner is set in present-day London. A group of radical activists, led by Clive Owen, take over an energy company’s annual gala, seizing 300 hostages in order to expose the corruption of the hosts. Their just cause is hijacked by an extremist within their ranks, who is ready to murder everyone in the building to send his anarchic message to the world. It falls to an ex-soldier turned window cleaner, played by Daisy Ridley, suspended 50 storeys up on the outside of the building, […]
Quiver Distribution announced today that it has acquired North American rights to the Anton and Qwerty Films production Cleaner, directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye) and set in, around and on the side of one of the UK’s tallest buildings. Quiver will release the film in theaters on February 21, 2025. The film stars Daisy Ridley (the Star Wars franchise) who recently completed Magpie, based on a story she developed, with acclaimed roles in Young Woman and The Sea and Sometimes I Think About Dying, and Clive Owen (Children of Men, Closer), who recently starred in the FX mini-series A Murder at the End of the World. Daisy Ridley (the Star Wars franchise, Young Woman and the Sea, Magpie) will star in Dedication, a new action thriller from director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye). Highland Film Group is co-financing the pic and handling international sales at the AFM in Las Vegas this week, as production readies for a Spring 2025 shoot in the Philippines and Europe. Campbell will direct from a screenplay by Dan Gordon (Wyatt Earp, The Hurricane) which centers on Major Billie Jean Parker (Ridley), a decorated Marine Corps commander relieved of duty after a high-stakes mission in the Philippines results in civilian casualties, despite capturing anarchist leader Omar Romatas. Facing the loss of her career, she visits her dying father, Clyde, a former Marine, who asks her to attend a dedication ceremony for a school building named in his honor. The event takes a deadly turn when Omar Romatas’s vengeful son, Bento, launches an assault, taking hostages. Forced back into combat, Billie Jean sets traps and executes precise strikes […]
This one took some several years to finally see the light of day what with reshoots and scheduling among actors being a factor. Alas, Doug Liman’s newest thriller has arrived with a first trailer for Chaos Walking, and it looks all kinds as epic as YA sci-fi fans might expect. Release date is pending. In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets. From the director of The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow and based on the best-selling novel The […]
It’s been real, guys. With more movies likely to come, it still bares noting director J.J. Abrams’s upcoming ninth Star Wars film will be the final bow for the Skywalker saga of the franchise. Abrams shared a photo of the principle trio of the latest three films that gave rise to the fandom in 2015 with The Force Awakens and proceeded with The Last Jedi a few years later. The newest installment doesn’t have a title but nonetheless reunites most of the cast from the previous two along with some new faces, in addition to Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and the posthumous casting of late actress Carrie Fisher who sadly passed away at the age of 60 nearly a year before The Last Jedi (short of a few weeks before the premiere of Gareth Edwards’ spin-off, Rogue One). Abrams penned the script with Chris Terrio for its […]
Yesterday, Lucasfilm dropped a real bombshell; Star Wars Stories, the movies released between numbered Star Wars films, will be put on hold for the foreseeable future. The angry, racist, manbaby Star Wars “fans” have no doubt pounded their chests and claimed a victory against the tyranny of Kathleen Kennedy and her Disney overlords but nothing could be further from the truth. As an evil, SJW, Commie bastard who loved The Last Jedi, I think this is the best thing that could have happened. Now Lucasfilm can step back and ask itself a very important question: what the hell are Star Wars Stories even supposed to be? Despite being one of the biggest franchises since the dawn of cinema, Star Wars is in an unenviable position. In many ways, it’s become too big to fail; an institution able to coast on its name but beholdened to the expectations of its own […]
New trailers and such, the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi remains impending with a December 15 date and the campaign is going hard and heavy for the fandom with as much trailer and TV spottage as it can consume. For me, I’ll just leave it off here unless noted, and with what’s been cited as the final international trailer now online for Rian Johnson’s offering as the eighth canon entry into the longstanding space saga with talking and bleeping droids, creatures, galactic deep space dog fights and epic existential battles on opposite sides of the Force and what have you. Enjoy!
Monday Night Football wasn’t my go-to for screening the final epic trailer for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That said, the new footage can now be seen online hailing the continuing epic saga with Daisy Ridley as the latest, albeit conflicted addition to a revamped war against a militaristic space empire as the pendulum swings between underlying symbiotic forces wielded by the Sith and the Jedi. Pioneering franchise star Mark Hamill remerges once again as aged iconic sci-fi hero Luke Skywalker as does the late Carrie Fisher in the role of General Leia Organa, along with reprising actors John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. December 15 is the date and pre-orders are now up and running at MovieTickets.com. Peep the trailer and snag your passes accordingly.
As far as remakes go, I’m not ever completely for them. I’m not against them either and with certainly there being a number of titles I’ve never really been keen on catching in my lifetime. The 1974 feature film, Murder On The Orient Express is one such title and for this, starring actor and director Kenneth Brannagh’s own take on the 1934 classic crime story, now has its first trailer running and a November 10 release from Twentieth Century Fox. What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling mysteries ever told. From the novel by best selling author Agatha Christie, “Murder on the Orient Express” tells the tale of thirteen strangers stranded on a train, where everyone’s a suspect. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again. I have a […]
Leaving all sorts of questions in its wake on top of its huge box office success, the events seen in J.J. Abrams’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens now get their hotly anticipated continuation in the upcoming eighth canon installation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The official trailer and poster premiered during Star Wars Celebration with director Rian Johnson, cast members in attendance. Next to the new additions of Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and actress Kelly Marie Tran who also joined in on the events on Friday, of course there’s question about who will return and who likely won’t. And for that matter, it’s a film that is sure to pay plenty of homage to the icons of its franchise, both living and departed. Check out the teaser trailer now ahead of the film’s December 15 release!
Disney Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just struck a billion dollars this week following its release back in December, continuing the success and overall relevance of the Star Wars films, no less. Now, Woody Harrelson otherwise confirmed for the Alden Ehrenrich-starring Han Solo spin-off, the push begins once more to move things forward following up J.J. Abrams’s 2015 Winter blockbuster in The Force Awakens with the next title in line for the new canon that will ultimately see the return of actress Daisy Ridley, actors John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Mark Hamill, among others. And, there’s a poster to mark the occasion as you see below. Read on, via StarWars.com: THE OFFICIAL TITLE FOR STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII REVEALED ANNOUNCING THE NAME OF THE NEXT FILM IN THE SKYWALKER SAGA. We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we […]
Filmmaker Doug Liman may be a bit despondent over losing his baby by 2005, but the former still has a several reasons to stay optimistic…well, a few. Null at the moment, of course, is Gambit since actor Channing Tatum is signed to playing a damn merman in some remake I could care less about while other prospects lie with a hopeful Edge Of Tomorrow sequel. His newest feature film endeavor, however, now lies with Lionsgate for Chaos Walking, based on the 2008 YA novel trilogy launchpad from author Patrick Ness. As of this week, word from Variety now has it that the new frontwoman of the latest Star Wars trilogy, actress Daisy Ridley is joining in the role of a strange, silent girl who joins our young male protagonist and his dog on a perilous, and deadly journey of self discovery. Here’s a description of the book from the author’s website: […]
Life is imaginably awesome for actress Daisy Ridley. Her prospects are growing immensely with the currently blooming new role in the Star Wars franchise for Disney and Lucasfilm and so it’s likely that her options will align beyond from here. This now leads us to the work that MGM, Warner Bros. and GK Films are putting in toward rebooting the Eidos Interactive hit game franchise, Tomb Raider. It’s been well-over five-year effort so far but the production finally nabbed a director late last year with The Wave helmer Roar Uthaug, and now the word is that Ridley herself is up against other candidates for the role of its leading lady character, Lara Croft. Square Enix recently rebooted the franchise for game platforms with Tomb Raider a few years ago, and subsequently with Rise Of The Tomb Raider, all which, in the game’s two-decade history, focus on Croft and her stunning […]
The pressure was on for director J.J. Abrams in the months leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and lo and behold, the efforts have been met with praise, and a gross thusfar of well over $2 billion dollars globally in ticket sales. As for the film, well…things happened, people died and Rey herself, played by actress Daisy Ridley, ended up with lightsaber skills of her own thus bringing a new heroine into the mix (despite initially being shortchanged her own toy in her likeness). Alas, the bar has been set for the new trilogy which now on par for a tie-in this December, Rian Johnson’s sequel a year thereafter and others to come, and so now we welcome, naturally, a home release of Abrams’s own film scheduled for the first week of April. Save for digital copy, the ensuing Blu-Ray and DVD will be packed […]
Less than forty years and any number of prequels, book, toys, games and the like, Star Wars is still a thing. We love our Star Wars as much as we love breathing, eating and pooping, and this was definitely a good thing for Walt Disney Co. upon purchasing Lucasfilm, Ltd. several years ago and acquired all its Star Wars content. Hence, we now have Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first of a new extension to a cinematic universe still mapping itself out after the first three films and subsequent prequels, and with several changes to the approach by way of J.J. Abrams following directing two Star Trek movies. The new movie follows Finn (John Boyega), an awakened stormtrooper, Rey (Daisy Ridley), a desert scavenger, and Poe (Oscar Isaac), a rebel X-wing pilot as they find themselves on a fortuitous mission that unites them with the long lost heroes who […]
As if the internet needed more crashing, a new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is here, and for reasons none other than how awesome Japan continues to be. Watch below!
