DOUBLE THREAT Review: Danielle C. Ryan Thrills In An Offbeat Romantic Road Actioner That Fizzles

I kept wondering at first when I last heard the name of Danielle C. Ryan upon learning about her new film, Double Threat. It definitely wasn’t The Cat In The Hat, so I looked her up briefly and noticed her screen credit in John Lyde’s 2016 prison thriller, Riot, with Matthew Reese and Dolph Lundgren. It was a film I certainly enjoyed in part due to Ryan’s performance caliber from acting and action standpoints, so looking at her latest joint from director Shane Stanley, her return to the genre makes clear sense. Going forward though, what’s a little less understandable is the level of mediocrity the script undertakes at times. Actress Danielle C. Ryan (Riot, Survivor) stars in the new independent action thriller, Double Threat, which is set for a VOD release on June 3. Shane Stanley directed from a script by C.J. Walley, all of whom also produced the pic along with Kurt Patino. Jeff Pink and Scott J. Jones exec produced. Jimmy (Matthew Lawrence) recently loses his brother and promises to scatter his ashes in the ocean. His plans, however, are derailed when a normal convenience store pit-stop becomes a mob attack on cashier Natasha (Danielle C. Ryan). As Jimmy tries to flee, he discovers Natasha hiding in the back seat, and learns that she isn’t some random cashier, but a woman on the run from the mob with a split personality: Nat and Tasha.
