The first film in 2012, inspired by author Lee Child’s series of titular novels, did well enough globally which eventually left space for a sequel, and now filming is set to begin this November as of last month. The opening weekend box office success of Christopher MacQuarrie’s latest, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, has done quite the justice for actor Tom Cruise. As such, the floodgates have further opened on the possible reprisal of a few of the actor’s recent roles in films like the live-action anime adaptation, Edge Of Tomorrow, and a sequel to his 2012 book-based action suspense thriller, Jack Reacher 2. The latter didn’t exactly do so well during its theatrical run with a domestic total of $80 million dollars under its belt, although grossing $138 million abroad earnings reportedly became a huge help. Fans of director Christopher McQuarrie’s 2012 thriller, Jack Reacher, can look forward to a sequel as of just a few years ago, and its lead star, actor Tom Cruise is set to reprise the role. McQuarrie directed the first film and has since been too tied up in finishing Cruise’s forthcoming Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, as of last September. Fortunately though, progress has been made as Paramount and Skydance have been moving forward for a second installation of author Lee Child’s book franchise. The word from Deadline is that acclaimed director Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are tapped to rewrite Richard Wenk’s original draft with the goal of having Zwick direct.
