In Memoriam: Eric Kovaleski (1979-2020)

News broke over the weekend that actor, community leader and martial artist Eric Kovaleski sadly passed away in the early hours of Saturday, February 29. Cause of death remains unknown as of this report. From age three, Kovaleski was introduced to martial arts by his father, Tang Soo Do Grandmaster Robert Kovaleski, and Korean martial arts pioneer, Senior Grandmaster Frank Trojanowicz. In 1994 he founded his first school with his current multi-based chain, Master Kovaleski’s Karate U.S.A. In addition to serving as President of the Global Korean Martial Arts Federation, among other endeavors, he also shepherded the Legends Of The Martial Arts Hall Of Fame Awards serving as founder and President alongside Vice President, actress and martial arts star, Grandmaster Cynthia Rothrock. Acclaimed Action Director Art Camacho To Attend LEGENDS OF THE MARTIAL ARTS AWARDS In October

We’re down to the wire for the upcoming release of acclaimed veteran stunt and fight coordinator Art Camacho‘s upcoming feature debut, The Chemist, which will soon get an audience later this year at the Action On Film Festival in Santa Monica, California. Camacho is still keeping busy on other projects as well with the current development of sequels to the 2001 actioner, Final Payback, as well as the 1993 film, To Be The Best, as per its announcement last year. In the meantime, folks familiar with the Legends Of The Martial Arts Hall Of Fame Awards will find Camacho among a slew of nominiees and recipients attending the event set for October 9 through 11 at the brand new Kalahari Resorts & Conventions at the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Tang Soo Do Master Eric Kovaleski is a busy man in recent years, owning and operating several branches of Master Kovaleski’s Karate USA and hosting special seminars with Korean international action performer, stuntman and choreographer, Grandmaster Won Jin. This year, as with every year since 2011, Eric is making preparations for this May’s upcoming events at the Split Rock Hotel in Pennsylvania for the Legends Of The Martial Arts Mega Martial Arts Weekend, an annual event which he hosts with vice president, actress and martial arts superstar, Grandmaster Cynthia Rothrock. (Originally posted on 1/22/13, re-edited and reposted on 1/23/13, and now edited for continuity) At the age of three, Eric Kovaleski was introduced to the martial arts by his father, Robert Kovaleski and senior grandmaster Frank Trojanowicz, a pioneer in Korean Martial Arts instruction in the northeastern United States since 1961 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Robert, 62 going on 63, is a Tang Soo Do Grandmaster himself, and has been training since 1966. He is the founder of the International Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Association. At age 11, Eric began teaching his own classes, and advanced to teaching adult classes at 13. In 1994, he started his own school, known to this day as Master Kovaleski’s Karate U.S.A., which now has three locations throughout Pennsylvania, with a fourth on the way.
