Farewell to the Sorcerer: Remembering Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (1950–2025)
I found out this morning, the same way most of us did: a quiet post on social media, then a flood of broken-heart emojis under that iconic Mortal Kombat poster. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is gone. 75 years old. A stroke. And just like that, the man who could silence a room with a single slow tilt of his head is no longer with us. If you grew up in the ’90s renting VHS tapes until the magnetic ribbon wore thin, you already know the moment. Mortal Kombat, 1995. The banquet hall. Shang Tsung, in that black-and-gold robe, leaning back in his throne like evil itself had decided to take a coffee break and enjoy the show. “Your soul is mine.” Four words, delivered with this velvet menace that made every 12-year-old in the room simultaneously terrified and obsessed. That was Cary. He didn’t just play the villain; he made villainy look […]

QUEEN OF MALACCA Teaser: Angga Dwimas Sasongko Rallies JAFF Market With New Fantasy Martial Arts Epic Rolling In 2027!
Following its unveiling at the JAFF Market to kick the week off, the official launch teaser for Queen Of Malacca (or Ratu Malaka) made its online premiere on Monday with a promising new outlook for the good stalwarts at Visinema and Indonesian cinema as a whole. Angga Dwimas Sasongko is directing the film now bound for 2027, and a cast led by Pangku star Claresta Taufan, who added the following, via Variety‘s Naman Ramachandran: “Stepping into my first action film was a shock to the system — in the best way. The training and the story really pushed me, and I discovered a side of myself I didn’t know I had. There’s real grit and adrenaline in this film, and I can’t wait for audiences to feel that rush,” Taufan said. The project was first announced over the summer at the Cannes market with Sasongko attached to direct. Taufan is […]
BANG Review: Shy Of A Whimper, Wych Kaosayananda’s Stoic Hitman Thriller Nails It
Someone must have been keeping a close eye on actor Jack Kesy, a relatively new face in film that’s been emerging for more than a decade with several career moves in between. With sizeable credits like FX series “The Strain,” and feature titles such as The Outpost, 12 Strong, Baywatch, and David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 among those in the portfolio, that Kesy since became the new face of superhero staple Hellboy is a welcome move that ought to shine a much-deserved light on some of his other endeavors to come, namely Bang, the newest action thriller from Saban Films and Thai director Wych “Kaos” Kaosayananda. Indeed, some of Kaosayananda’s other titles of late have been hit-or-miss depending on your tastes; Dystopian thriller The Driver and revenge noir One Night In Bangkok, both Mark Dacascos-led vehicles, were palatable in their own way, although I can agree the latter fell a little more […]

DIABLO launches its first trailer igniting a new chapter between Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror screen rivalry.
On this platform, we’ve been closely following the development of this project since its inception. A project that is now a reality, and that moviegoers finally will be able to enjoy this summer. Directed by Chilean director Ernesto Diaz Espinosa (Kiltro, Fist of the Condor), the film marks the third collaboration between Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror in the roles of protagonist and antagonist. A reunion that sounds like a celebration for fans of the genre after the joys both stars gave us in the past in essential films like Undisputed III and Savage Dog. The trailer gives a sneak peek at the martial arts and ballistic spectacle that Diablo promises, with Adkins as the central axis of the action, promising to quench the thirst of action movie fans. The main attraction is a new duel between Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror. After his release from prison, one man makes […]
