SNAKE EYES: ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Star Henry Golding To Don Iconic Black Ninja Garb For G.I. Joe Spin-Off

Crazy Rich Asians star, actor Henry Golding is already leaving a mark on 2019 with deals for at least two action projects to be produced under his banner with DJ Films and 87 North. In the meantime, trade news is now cycling that he’s also being eyed for the title role of Snake Eyes for a new G.I. Joe spin-off that’s been in the works for some time now. Robert Schwentke (RED, Insurgent, Allegiant) is set to direct from a script by Evan Spiliotopolous (The Huntsman: Winter’s War). G.I. JOE Grows Its Cinematic Universe With New Spin-Off Project

Paramount and Hasbro have tapped Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 & 2, Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol) to assemble what THR‘s Borys Kit is reporting as an “ensemble piece” in the G.I. Joe screen saga. The article thusfar only elucidates the project as another spin-off of the G.I. Joe franchise with the inclusion of at least one key character, Chuckles, who debuted among the popular toyline in 1987 and in its Marvel Comics slate. As Kit notes, Chuckles is best known for his skillset involving undercover and infiltration ops. He also reports that the character isn’t central to the new movie but that could change over time, among other things already in flux.
