Disney’s HAN SOLO Spin-Off Replaces Its Directors With Ron Howard

It’s been an eventful week for the Star Wars/Han Solo spin-off. The departure of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller due to their creative fallout with writer and executive producer Lawrence Kasdan has been a severely upsetting development for a lot of fans who might be keen on the film’s delivery aside from any previous measure of skepticism. Production remains on hiatus until July 10 as the studio tries to quell the upheaval and the first step they’ve now taken is finding a replacement, now confirmed with the attachment of In The Heart Of The Sea helmer Ron Howard. Punch It! Filming Begins For The Han Solo Star Wars Spin-Off

The new Han Solo spin-off film still doesn’t have an official title, but we now have our first look at a cast photo marking the start of principal photography at Pinewood Studios as of Monday. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) are directing the film as one of several current spin-offs for Disney and Lucasfilm’s on-going Star Wars saga in lieu of Rian Johnson’s coming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The film, opening on May 25, 2018, stars actor Alden Ehrenreich as inspired by Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Han Solo, next to Finnish actor and basketballer Joonas Suotamo as loyal Wookie companion, Chewbacca, and will explore the events of both heroes leading up to the main canon’s second chapter that began with Episode IV: A New Hope. ‘Red Cup’ Hails The Start Of Production On The New STAR WARS Spin-Off With Han Solo

May 25, 2018 is when Star Wars fans will brace themselves for another inspired spin-off of the hit sci-fi fantasy space opera, now with the untitled Han Solo origin film following the big screen success of Gareth Edwards’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. As such, production has officially commenced by way of co-director Chris Miller’s Twitter announcement a la clapperboard illustrating the film’s working title, Red Cup. Miller is joined by co-helmer Phil Lord with actor Alden Ehrenrich succeeding the title role in a tale that will illustrate Solo’s career ascension as the smuggler, captain of the Millenium Falcon who would soon play a pivotal role in the rebel alliance against the Empire. The Star Wars saga continues this December spinning off with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, before seuging into the eighth official canon installment one year thereafter. In the meantime, Lucasfilm’s other spin-off prospects are advancing through an earlier telling of actor Harrison Ford’s portrayal of intergalactic smuggler Han Solo. The studio has already cast actor Alden Ehrenreich for the role ahead of the film’s release in the next few years. Much more news is in store but today’s latest update comes straight from the auspices of the studio now announcing actor Donald Glover for the role of Lando Calrissian, once held by actor Billy Dee Williams in the first trilogy through episodes five and six. Disney Casts Its Han Solo Spin-Off Star

Well, it was a matter of months or longer, but now it looks like the production behind the forthcoming Han Solo spin-off has reached a new plateau. Deadline reports that Hail, Caesar! co-star Alden Ehrenreich has officially been cast to play the title role, with the looming possibility of a cameo in Gareth Edwards’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The news comes as one of a few updates including that of character actor Spencer Wilding being tapped to suit up as Darth Vader just a few days ago, all since the Han Solo spin-off was announced last summer. Other candidates for Han Solo included finalists like Transformers: Age Of Extinction co-star Jack Reynor and Kingsman star Taron Egerton.
