HIGH KICK ANGELS Flexes New Poster Art And Zombie Action On Opening Weekend!

Stuntman and filmmaker Kazuhiro Yokoyama‘s new film, High Kick Angels, is getting some noticably positive attention from Japan filmgoers and some approving critics online following its Friday release. Of course, time will tell how the film does on a commercial level, and if whether or not there may even be another film in the franchise, and one can only hope as long as those sentiments are shared. Let’s hope the film goes stateside soon so that everyone can get a glimpse at writer and High Kick auteur Nishi Fuyuhiko’s newest contribution to martial arts action cinema. Catch Two Teaser Clips For HIGH KICK ANGELS

The final two-week stretch has begun for the upcoming Japan release of director Yokoyama Kazuhiro‘s new all-girl Karate chick-flick, High Kick Angels. The film opens on June 14, and the film already well into its promotional efforts, having shared several training montages and vines, in addition to a featured clip with actress and martial artist Mayu Kawamoto. Since then, two clips have gone viral with fellow martial arts femme fatale Kanon Miyohara cleaning house, and a new teaser clip this week featuring actress, martial artist and model Kaede Aono trading kicks with actor and karate champion Shingo Koyasu (Dancing Karate Kid). Mayu Kawamoto Enters Her Inner-Dragon In A New HIGH KICK ANGELS Clip!

By the good graces of our unknown movie gods, action fans will get to see actress Mayu Kawamoto in director Norio Tsuruta’s forthcoming summer zombie actioner, Z-Zed. And not for nothing either, as Kawamoto also happens to be the real deal: a Kyokushin karate blackbelt, to boot. Such is the reason she now gets to show off her screenfighting chops in director Yokoyama Kazuhiro‘s new flick, High Kick Angels, about a group of high school girls trying to make an indie Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan-style martial arts flick on campus when they suddenly find themselves swarmed by a gang of thugs. You can now catch some of the action in a brand new clip below, ahead of the film’s domestic June 14 release in Japan. With any luck, we’ll hear some outside distribution news soon enough!

Director Yokoyama Kazuhiro and producer Nishi Fuyuhiko are well on their way to showcase the resulting onslaught of high flying beauties and super-flexible kicks in their newest film, High Kick Angels. This week, following up with the recent airing of an Ip Man-style promo and action promo is brand new promo scored with the theme from Fist Of The North Star, featuring similar footage seen in previous posts. Writer and producer Nishi Fuyuhiko and director Yokoyama Kazuhiro spent a good amount of time since late last year teasing training footage for a new group of actresses starring in the current production of the latest in High Kick fanfare for Japanese action fans, High Kick Angels. We have have also seen a few photos from the set, as well as a recent Ip Man-dominated promo mashup of footage for film, which had a certain desired affect as a pitch to fans of martial arts cinema, despite still being a teaser of sorts. The high-kick genre of Japanese martial arts films since actress Rina Takeda’s 2009 break out hit, High Kick Girl, seems to have been a proven formula in recent years. On that note, Filmsmash forwarded a new glimpse into another film headed our way in the form of High Kick Angels from the film’s official Twitter account. Little is yet to be made clear about who is behind this project, although High Kick Girl director Fuyuhiko Nishi might somehow be involved, based on several vine videos aired from his account as well. Like previous “high-kick” films, High Kick Angels currently has a cast accumulating with its fair share of talented acting and athletic martial arts beauties, including Karate champion Kanon Miyohara, Kyokushin black belt Mayu Kawamoto, and featuring Japanese model and fellow Karate blackbelt Kaede Aono making her film debut.
