Actor Jason Statham made headlines on Tuesday in a published interview at Vanity Fair to promote his upcoming film, Homefront. Having been a seasoned actor stunt performer and screenfighter for well over a decade, Statham ardently expressed support for the stunt community in favor of an Oscar category for industry stuntmen and women, claiming it as an “injustice” to ignore them when awarding actors who don’t genuinely do their own stunts. “I think it is an overlooked category,” Statham told us, especially considering “how much responsibility these coordinators have for some of the greatest entertainment in action movies. I mean, all of the stunt men—these are the unsung heroes. They really are. Nobody is giving them any credibility. They’re risking their necks. This particular trailer offers a just a little bit more depth in terms of what to expect from the various layers of the story beyond Jason Statham as a former NARC going up against a ruthless drug kingpin and his small army of misbehavers looking to have their asses handed to them by the Stath. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham can currently be seen in daily production photos for Patrick Hughes’ upcoming sequel ensemble action blowout, The Expendables 3 over at Expendables Premiere. However, the two are set for writer/producer and lead actor in director Gary Fleder‘s latest thrilling action drama, Homefront, which is set to arrive in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving. The trailer comes just days after AOL Moviefone debuted the official poster on their website on Tuesday. Jason Statham is on the course to dazzle and amaze audiences once more this year in the upcoming action thriller, Homefront, directed by Gary Fleder with writer/co-producer and fellow Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone on board. According to Deadline, the film, also starring James Franco, has been acquired for distribution by Open Road Films and is slated for an October 4, 2013 release. The film, based on the novel by author Chuck Logan, is being described as “a smart, suspenseful, action-packed thriller” which focuses on a widowed ex-DEA agent who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter, where he ends up tangling with the local meth druglord.
