JACK REACHER 2 To Begin Filming This November!

The opening weekend box office success of Christopher MacQuarrie’s latest, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, has done quite the justice for actor Tom Cruise. As such, the floodgates have further opened on the possible reprisal of a few of the actor’s recent roles in films like the live-action anime adaptation, Edge Of Tomorrow, and a sequel to his 2012 book-based action suspense thriller, Jack Reacher 2. The latter didn’t exactly do so well during its theatrical run with a domestic total of $80 million dollars under its belt, although grossing $138 million abroad earnings reportedly became a huge help. For this, talk of a sequel has kept things simmering, and now word from THR writes that the film is set to begin shooting this November, reunitng Cruise with The Last Samurai helmer Ed Zwick in the director’s chair. Director Christopher McQuarrie is still in the process of directing Mission: Impossible 5, the latest installment of the title franchise with scribe Drew Pearce and lead actor Tom Cruise for its December 25, 2015. In the meantime, it appears that the two will not be partnering again for a second offering in the forthcoming Jack Reacher sequel from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, following its announcement late last year. Empire spoke to author Lee Child whose 2005 novel, “One Shot”, inspired its live action iteration a few years ago in which Cruise plays a U.S. Army Military Homicide investigator caught in a conspiracy involving the murder of five people. “McQuarrie is going to be in post-production on Mission: Impossible 5,” says Child. “He just physically can’t do it. According to new reports from Deadline, Tom Cruise is lined up for a main role in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which is set to be helmed by Guy Ritchie, with a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns and based on the classic NBC television series starring Robert Vaughan and David McCallum. The film will be the latest set up for a new spy franchise for Cruise, who is currently riding the success of the sequel-bound Jack Reacher, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who is also set to direct the fifth installment of Mission Impossible.
