“Krypto…. take us home.”
On Thursday 19th December 2024 DC fans from around the World were treated to the highly anticipated teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman. There has been much speculation surrounding the film’s cast and storyline. Check out the teaser trailer below –
James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a SUPERMAN who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind. Key words there being “newly imagined DC universe,” of course. Not everyone has taken kindly to the changing of the guard at Warner Bros. and DC Studios since the decade-long Snyderverse recapitulated last year. Nonetheless, change takes time to adapt to, and the past several days since the first poster debut for Superman indicate something a little more efficacious for Gunn’s pending comic book movie revival. To that end, the official teaser trailer is here as well, undoubtedly with more promo assets to come as Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios ready a July 11 theatrical release. The cast is led by David Corenswet who is the latest successor to the […]

Gunn directs from a script for a cast that also lists Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi, along with Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Skyler Gisondo, Nicholas Hoult, and Wendell Pierce. Superman opens in theaters July […]

I’m only just coming off of freshly learning about this tweet which may well lead to a wholly different thing from what this report will focus on. Speaking of, DCU shepherd James Gunn just broke the news that he’ll be stepping into the role of director for Superman Legacy, one of the multiple titles lined up for the post-Snyder cadre of superhero movies and shows out of Warner Bros. Discovery .back in January. Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. Gunn wrote the pic which is currently slated to release three summers from now. The film marks the Guardians Of The Galaxy trilogy helmer’s second feature venture away from Marvel since […]
New DCU co-shepherd James Gunn took to social media on Tuesday to finally announce “Gods And Monsters”, detailing just part of the eight-to-ten-year plan that he and Peter Safran have in store to streamline its properties between film, television, and gaming. As Gunn notes, the plan will leapfrog off of Shazam: Gods And Monsters, followed by The Flash which will reset the DCU, as well as the impending releases of Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2. All other works such as sequels to The Batman and Joker will continue onward into “DC Elseworld” territory, leaving a total of ten projects to help reboot the current vision of the DCU. The list includes a split of five titles in a live-action series format, and five feature film projects – the first of which will be Superman Legacy, which Gunn is penning ahead of a July 11, 2025 release. The announcement comes following […]
Every week for the last eight weeks has been a damn good week if you’re subbed to HBO Max or wherever you can legitimately catch the 80s rock-supercharged hit series, Peacemaker. On Wednesday, Warnermedia announced a second season for the show is officially in development following its premiere last month as a spin-off of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The news comes on the eve of Thursday’s season one finale premiere on February 17. Birthed on comic pages initally back in 1966 before eventually landing under DC Comics, Gunn brought the character to life between both properties, following through with the hit HBO Max series with John Cena in the title role. Pigeonholed into teaming up with a secret unit being overseen by government spook Amanda Waller (cameoed by Viola Davis), Peacemaker (a.k.a. Chris Smith) finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, questionable friendships, and imminent conflict, as he and […]
With Zack Snyder’s Justice League soon to be months behind us as Warner Bros. Pictures outwardly shuns its director’s highly superior four-hour epic from the studio’s more ideal canon, time will tell how the forthcoming slate of live-action DC movies will manage to validate its DCEU on the big screen for fans going forward. We’ll soon see how that bodes for filmmaker James Gunn in lieu of the August 6 release date for The Suicide Squad, hereby succeeding David Ayer’s own incarnation with a newly polished approach to the property that launched in 1959 and revised plentily over the years, and now carrying the torch for a studio now patently lagging in its heretofore attempt at rivaling Marvel. Folks will get to check out the film in theaters, as well as HBO Max for subscribers for up to 31 days at no extra charge. Alas, the official red-band trailer, as […]
HBO Max is in active development with a straight-to-series order for Oh f*ck, it’s Peacemaker!, as announced by WarnerMedia on Wednesday. The new series will explore the origins of the Peacemaker character, the master of weapons, tying in to the highly anticipated upcoming DC adaptation, The Suicide Squad film, directed by James Gunn and currently aiming for an August 6, 2021 release. John Cena will reprise his role from the film to star in the series, with Gunn tapped to pen all eight episodes, as well as direct the first among multiple episodes as the company plans to shoot next year. Gunn will also serve as exec producer along with The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran, with Cena co-exec producing. Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company are producing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Exact plot details are nil, although WarnerMedia describes Cena’s forthcoming incarnation of Peacemaker as […]
Among all the things comic book film fans can be proud of, it’s being in director James Gunn’s corner. Having pulled himself from the throes of a career-ending smear campaign and back into moviemaking relevancy, what better way to mark the occasion than with a fresh look at the new and returning characters in The Suicide Squad? And you can guess as much that Gunn’s own vision is going for something much more different than Ayer’s 2016 installment. Alas, no plot or synopsis, and not really that much teaser footage. Nope, today is all about the hype, and that comes by way of a new roll-call teaser giving viewers of Saturday’s DC FanDome a first look above at the cast of characters, as well as a behind-the-scenes sneak peek below. A 2021 theatrical release is also in tow and with that, official promo assets to help carry the hype until […]
Actor Jai Courtney is rejoining The Suicide Squad once more for the role of Captain Boomerang as confirmed by THR in an interview with the actor. The news came on Wednesday just after word of talks of adding actor John Cena joining the cast began circulating from Justin Kroll over at Variety (update: Kroll added via Twitter that the role Cena may play, originally offered to actor Dave Bautista, would be that of Peacemaker). Courtney played Captain Boomerang in the David Ayer-directed 2016 inaugural Suicide Squad adaptation from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment about a select band of criminals hired in secret by the government in lieu of an incoming threat. Cena’s recent credits include Universal Pictures parental comedy, Blockers, and Travis Knight’s Paramount release, Bumblebee, while the actor also prepares to tackle The Janson Directive. He and Courtney will be joined by returning cast members Viola Davis as Amanda […]
According to a new report at Deadline, James Gunn, is being brought back on board to direct Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 3. The news comes less than a year after Gunn was fired by Disney when right-wing trolls unearthed old, offensive Tweets from Gunn’s past twitter activity late last summer. Mike Fleming Jr. reports the following: “After the firing, Walt Disney Studios president Alan Horn met with Gunn on multiple occasions to discuss the situation. Persuaded by Gunn’s public apology and his handling of the situation after, Horn decided to reverse course and reinstate Gunn.” Gunn’s Hall H appearance for last year’s Comic Con for the upcoming May 24 release on David Yarovesky’s Brightburn (on which Gunn serves as producer), was pulled upon the news of the tweets. His subsequent firing proved even more divisive with supporters, bloggers and fans alike, and even the cast – most notably Dave […]
Borys Kit over at The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision column is bringing the gospel with actor Idris Elba circling the role of Deadshot for James Gunn’s sequel follow-up, The Suicide Squad. The report stipulates that as Elba and Gunn hit it off last week on Friday, the actor was the first choice following the departure of Will Smith who portrayed the role for David Ayer’s first installment in 2016. Also elucidated in the report is that Gunn, who now segues from his position at Disney’s Marvel feature film roster – leaving behind his script for a third Guardians Of The Galaxy which still needs a director – will use mostly new characters apart from Deadshot, including a possible return of actress Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Robbie is set to reprise the role in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) for which cameras […]
It’s a damn good time to be a James Gunn fan, especially if you’ve enjoyed the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies he’s directed up until this point. Following up on a report from The Wrap last October, The Hollywood Reporter has it on good terms that Gunn will direct the film now titled The Suicide Squad after penning a script from a previous draft by Gavin O’Connor. Warner Bros. is currently in the midst of a revamp of its properties since taking off with Man Of Steel and leaving off at Justice League – Birds Of Prey and Joker being just a few of the latest examples. Thus, it’s expected Gunn’s treatment will be envisioned as a reboot with new characters. The news is a plus for fans who’ve cheered Gunn since a right-wing provocateur unearthed old, offensive Tweets last summer that were posted by Gunn – Tweets that Gunn […]
(UPDATED @6:43pm EST with correct video) It was the momentous occasion that should have officially launched the campaign for The Hive helmer David Yarovesky’s new horror, Brightburn. Before anyone knew, producer and now ousted Marvel MCU director James Gunn’s SDCC shindig was curtailed by an alt-right provocateur bent on destroying his career, effectively delaying the film’s campaign and commencing Gunn’s social media blackout which still remains on-going. I suppose six months is a long-enough wait now as plenty of time has passed since then, and graciously with a project that unites Yarovesky and Gunn long since their heyday working at Troma. Brightburn marks an occasion for the two cohorts as Sony now unveils the first official trailer, giving netizens and the comic-crowd at Brazil a first look at a story that turns the superhero narrative on its head in intriguing fashion. What if a child from another world crash-landed on […]
The Wrap confirmed in an exclusive on Tuesday that James Gunn is up for scripting and potential directing duties on the sequel to DCEU property, Suicide Squad. The move marks the latest development for the former Disney employee after being fired over tweets resurfaced by a right-wing provocateur back in July. Gavin O’Connor wrote a previous draft, whereas now Gunn’s will forsee what’s reported as an entirely different take on the property that centers on a band of super-skilled criminals fight terror at the behest of a secret government program. David Ayer wrote and directed the original, and in the course of its post-production was locked out of his own editing room by the studio in favor of a lighter-toned action adventure. Gunn’s fallout from Disney couldn’t have been uglier after being forced to cancel a Hall H appearance to promote David Yarovesky’s upcoming horror, BrightBurn. His old Tweets, indeed, […]
