ABSOLUTE DOMINION: Nevada Setting The Stage For Netflix Martial Arts Tournament Thriller From ‘Punisher: War Zone’ Director

Netflix is partnering up with Jason Blum (The Purge franchise, Upgrade, Freaky) and German-Palestinian filmmaker Lexi Alexander (Punisher: War Zone, Green Street Hooligans, Lifted) for martial arts action film, Absolute Dominion. An official statement by Netflix remains pending for now, but production is reportedly set to kick off later this month at the Terrible’s Hotel and Casino in Jean, Nevada near Las Vegas. The hotel has long since been closed down following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States back in March of 2020. Set in 2085, Absolute Dominion centres on a world that has nearly been destroyed by religious terrorism where cities in countries all over the world have been annihilated. Universal Retools Its ‘Monster Legacy’ As THE INVISIBLE MAN Nabs ‘Upgrade’ Director

The last five years have been something of a rollercoaster for Universal’s attempt at a Dark Universe. Gary Shore’s 2014 thriller, Dracula Untold, gave way for the studio to steer efforts toward reviving its long-celebrated line of monster movie properties – a move that didn’t bode too well for Alex Kurtzman’s critically panned take on The Mummy three years later. The film bombed and that pretty much left things near solidly uncertain for the Dark Universe as the studio had already lined its cast up, including Johnny Depp who was set to star as The Invisible Man, based on H.G. Wells’ 1897 novella.
